I haven't used stuff from these guys, but people I know have used it and declared it quality stuff. Obviously you don't need the gun-toting part (or maybe ya do!), but it looks like it would hold up. At $140 doesn't seem too bad.

Hope it works out. On a side note I'll be moving to the Treasure State in less than two weeks.

I run one of these..Frankly is works better for flyfishing as my compact laptop gets a bit lost but it's a durable fucker.

Messenger bags are great but tend to get sloppy, so you have to look at them as a system of bags withing bags.

I have hundreds of thousands of mile on a custom Z-bag..they are all simialr though.

A company that has caught my eye with its well thought out gear is this one...

I'll be working in the Bakken for a while. Hopefully move to the mountains in the long run. Got family in Butte and Helena.

BD,

That first bag's a Filson, isn't it? I've got several Filson items but none of their luggage. Most of their stuff is bomber solid.

Just buy the first thing you see that looks OK at a price you like and be done with it.

A bag doesn't have to be the most durable thing ever built to survive years of daily use. I've been walking to work with the same backpack I got on clearance at Eddie Bauer for four years, and it's still going strong.

Drop me a pm when you're passing Livingston. We'll have a beer.

I went with the Timbuc2. I like the fact that it's waterproof, bombproof, has easy access to the laptop for TSA and really nice Napoleon pocket for Vaseline.
