I've always liked B-Hop, except that time he dismantled Kelly Pavlik who I was rooting for.
Dude gets it done as an old-timer.

He is definitely a bad old man, that's for sure.
I will add that I used to be a little bit creeped out by the "executioner" schtick in the '90s, but I'm not too sure what to make of this "alien" nonsense...

P.S. - It should not be lost here that based on my prior comments, as a boxer and/or coach for a combined 40-some years, I don't have much good to say about the direction of the sport, amateur or pro, in the last 20 years...
But honestly, what in the hell is some 14-1 Kazakh douche nozzle doing holding *two* of the major titles? That guy wasn't even worthy of being in the ring with Hopkins, let alone being the champ coming into the fight. Damn.

light heavy does seem a weak weight class. i would figure younger fighters would want to set a faster pace with b-hop keep, but the old bastard is crafty, and with his chin tucked behind his shoulder, he is almost unhitable.Dirt McGirt wrote:P.S. - It should not be lost here that based on my prior comments, as a boxer and/or coach for a combined 40-some years, I don't have much good to say about the direction of the sport, amateur or pro, in the last 20 years...

Hopkins and Roy Jones are pretty much a perfect comparison between technical defense vs. reflex/athleticism defense. Jones was God until he turned 35.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
