I've had the sad duty of sitting down three officers recently and telling them that they are fat, and are exceeding mil body fat limits. They all acted a little surprised, and yet there they are with their size 50 uniforms. So they are surprised that I'm holding them to standards, not that they are fat. One of them was boarded out of the Navy, another had a spike driven into his fitness report records and is now terminal in rank. The third left the unit and joined up with a new unit with a fat CO, so he should be good for a few more years.

Par for the course observations here...I never go to casinos except for company events, but every time I partake I'm mesmerized by the ass dragging parade of humanimal consumer specimens. Lots of huff-n-puff shufflers marching to the beat of their quiet desperation. Wheelchairs and EZ-Go scooters are as abundant as slot machines. Even the people who seem to keep their weight within manageable limits seem to be doing so via a steady diet of alcohol and cigarettes. The casino workers themselves are a horrid fright to behold. Indian reservations are gulags of poverty, alcoholism, and frazzled chromosomes. The locals who work the casino over in Philadelphia, MS all look like they were cloned from the same overweight and crippled cigar store Indian. There's nothing sexier than a five feet tall woman who is cockeyed, weighs 200lbs, has Type 2 'beetus, and whose pants are about to catch fire from the friction caused by her knock kneed legs that appear to be made out of lard and cookie dough. Casinos are magnets for the type of people who will be the first to go when society falls apart. Their carcasses will fetch a fine price in the Thunderdome meat markets as they'll all taste like Milwaukee's Best and Little Debbie snack cakes.

Name your self induced social or medical issue and the core problem is conscious or unconscious disconnect from the premise of cause and effect. They may not want to be fat, but they don't want to regulate their food consumption and or take care of themselves either.

Most people want a world free of hard choices and or consequences. The concepts of self denial, discipline and self awareness are like kryptonite to most people.

Same thing at my family gathering yesterday. Big fat fuck uncle hurt his back getting up from the picnic table...

Sad you even have to do that. In NOLA when we started measuring NRAMS folks i had a few screaming matches that always included do you know who my Boss is but i didn't. My NOSC days were full of large folks who went home for overfat or blowing off PRT and remedial. Not that hard.

Also, the close proximity of the casinos to urban blight centers like Saginaw and Flint mean a while lotta urban types are blowing their ssi on casinos and starving their kids. "Ah caint feed mah kids wif just $1000 on mah brij card dis mumf!"

If they can't meet minimum standards, they don't deserve to be collecting a military paycheck. I know quite a few who have had the same conversation and saw the dietician and started a diet plan, started exercising, met the standards, and stayed within them. It's a morale killer when the same standards aren't universally upheld in a unit, because everybody always knows.

30 years ago my first CO was a runner/PT freak who bet the entire squadron he could beat them in overall PRT score or run time and if they beat him they got a 96 hour liberty. Maybe lost bet twice.

By the time i was in his place i offered the same thing but added if you can't beat me in the run you are on remedial PT. This is so easy and basic that even a powerlifter can do it. Rarely lost my bet(maxing pushups and situps and cruising the mile and a half on run still yielded a 260-280 out of 300) but lots of turds got to do remedial even without my help. Hipster culture isn't helping this issue.

BTW Nafod if NOSC CO is doing his job fatties can't hide. My guys did all the measurements but let units run the test.

We drill remotely, so rarely hang out at the NOSC. But not an issue, we go by the book.

While I was away from my particular community, they had a guy they wanted to bring on ADSW. At the time, they were making everyone go through MOB processing, even if just going on ADSW, so off to Norfolk he went for indoc. He failed the tape test. By A LOT. Along with getting rid of him, they made everyone in the entire community get weighed and measured that month. Heh.

The majority were either fat, very fat or OMG fat.

An astounding number of people moved like they were extras in the Walking Dead. Their gait was very stiff with short little steps and no movement of the arms or shoulders and zero fluidity. Some of these people were in their 20's/30's.

Took me years to lose most of my fat, Doc. Don't eat much "murican" food either. Don't miss feeling spaced out and bloated, the blood pressure meds or the contemptuous looks from MILFs at my spare tires. Sometimes I miss stir fried rice, stir fried tofu and chicken with garlic sauce.

Life is about choices. What do you want and what will you do to get it?

My little burg has four casinos, populated day & night by disgruntled*, middle-aged to elderly Asians. Therefore, not fatties.
When I drive by the casinos in my fire engine at 3 AM, it makes me sad to see the parking lots mostly full. Don't they have anyplace better to be?

BUT, except for the rare drunk/drunken brawl, the casinos are a crime-free money machine for my town. Millions in tax dollars every year.



*Nobody ever smiles or appears to be having fun in these places.

A casino less than a mile away. It's always full and on it's border is a Walmart. Nothing but fun in South Florida.
