They had a little UAV flying around to get the shot. Awesomeness.

Re: Some super cool rocket video
For those of us confused by the return to ground...
YouTube Description wrote:Video of Falcon 9 Reusable (F9R) taking its first test flight at our rocket development facility. F9R lifts off from a launch mount to a height of approximately 250m, hovers and then returns for landing just next to the launch stand. Early flights of F9R will take off with legs fixed in the down position. However, we will soon be transitioning to liftoff with legs stowed against the side of the rocket and then extending them just before landing.

Do your rockets have a reverse gear? Ours do.Wild Bill wrote:Great video.

By the way, some of the totally coolest stuff ever is the series of Russian missions to Venus. Landers and atmospheric floaters and all kinds of crazy stuff.

You sure that was real and not CGI? I guess it was real, but for a few minutes there I thought it was a CGI prank.

Come on now, don't be a jerk.Do your rockets have a reverse gear? Ours do.
I know you are just rubbing in the fact that Russia doesn't even have its own launch facility anymore...

On the upside, though, this is the kind of outstanding results Russia's Protons are getting these days out of Baikonur:

Re: Some super cool rocket video
I will say this:
Russia was willing to expend the blood and treasure to get the first ballistic missile launched, and the first satellite, first mammal, first man, and first woman (*all* of them from Baikonur, I believe...) into orbit, but while some of the 'unverified' stories of them sacrificing cosmonauts are pretty awful,

the unquestionable ones are downright sad:

it seems your media likes unverified stories :) in other places "unverified stories" called "rumors".Dirt McGirt wrote:... but while some of the 'unverified' stories...
