My French bulldog was a sweetheart and wonderful companion, but only to me. She hated anyone else and despised children. No good in extreme temps at all, and died of heart failure at 7.
Good friend has a Patterdale. I'd throw out a vote for one. I loved that little pooch. Fair warning: it was aptly named Pita (pain in the ass). I'm 6' and that little fucker could flat footed
jump up to shoulder level so I'd catch and pet her.
Yeah, Sorry Bats. I'm getting radio silence on this end. Lots of pings about Am Staffs and Am. Bulldogs but no patterdale patterdale people. Closest I heard was Southern Cal.

I just talked with the breeder down in SoCal. I may time a business trip or a visit to the relatives to coincide with a litter of puppies. I've been warned that flying a pup home is the only sane answer with a Patterdale pup.
I've also been warned that I will have to keep an close eye on the dog when out in the field. Their predator drive is very strong and they will run to ground pretty much anything.
Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.
I am sure they are a handful out in the woods. Convicing a hunting dog to not hunt is no small feat. Best of luck on timing, if only to keep you from rolling out a pair of 20 hour drives over a l.ong weekend

One of the early breeders was a dentist in Cleveland. Hunted with them in England, etc. His male killed a 50 pound coyote one on one. He said, "I'll send you photos of the kill"... My assumption was a pack.. but he said it could have gone the other way real easy since coyotes are smart and tough, but prefer to run away.
Actually for 15 pounds.. this fits your personality [Ranger, martial artist, etc] since a strong pack leader will make it a very nice companion.
