One of those Leatherman thingys...
So I'm taking off on a solo motorcycle trip to Cuntucky and have been gathering up a few pieces of kit in case I have some trouble...well not "The Hills Have Eyes" trouble but you know mechanical shit, flat tire, etc. I bought a cool little air compressor that weights about a pound, a plug/patch kit and some other shit. So I may be one of the only dudes on here that doesn't have one so I bought a Leatherman called the Surge that has like 25 fucking things on it and I've been fucking around with it and I have to say this is one serious bit of well manufactured kit for just about any regular type of tool use. Bought it at REI for 80 bucks. I also bought a cool flashlight that is USB charged, the Nitecore MH25 that is also a very well made. You can take out the rechargeable battery and put regular Li batteries if needed. So if I do get raped while I'm in Cooterville I'll at least be able to patch my busted up asshole and use my Leatherman for some serious MacGyver shit to get even.

Wearing pants under your chaps will make you less likely to get raped.

This has not gone in the conversational direction I was hoping for. Heavy sigh.

I've been wanting a nice multi-tool for a long time. I'll have to check this out. I was looking at this one but the one you bought seems to have more tools at half the price.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

No, but neither does Mike Escamillo and that was the one he uses. He just goes on various adventures and that was the one Leatherman sent him as part of his outdoor package.

Well, then lets discuss revenge on would-be chap-inflamed rapists. which tool would you use first and how?Shapecharge wrote:This has not gone in the conversational direction I was hoping for. Heavy sigh.
But, wait, before we talk about that, can you tell me what you think about the Big Green Egg? I seem to remember you saying you might have used one or seen one or maybe just dreamt about one?

Victorinox Swisstool > any Leatherman. I have close to 30 multi-tools and the Vics are way better than any other.

I don't know if this would be considered styling or a piece of safety equipment but a Billy Ray mullet hat could come in handy for picking up a partially toothed hottie at Dairy Queen or when trying to avoid outsider ass rape.dead man walking wrote:shape,

Re: One of those Leatherman thingys...
Mick, the MUT is a fairly large multi-tool and as Shaf already hinted at, Leatherman designed it to be used on the AR15 although it does have basic tools on it as well.Mickey O'neil wrote:No, but neither does Mike Escamillo and that was the one he uses. For mid sized MT's I would look at the Wave. If you wanna spend some extra dough you can look at the Charge series(same configuration as the Wave but nicer materials). Charge TI has titanium scales and S30V blade(most expensive of the series). Charge AL has aluminum scales and 154cm blade(mid priced model). The Wave is an all stainless steel construction and the blade is 440c(cheapest option of the three). The thing I prefer about the charge models over the wave is that the scales are rounded so it's more comfortable to grip without gloves.
If you want a larger tool, I suggest looking at the Surge(basically a larger version of the WAVE) or the Super Tool 300. The nice thing about the Super Tool is you can replace the wire cutters should they get dull or damaged BUT the blades are on the inside of the tool so you lose some of that one handed blade deployment functionality.

The super tool is huge, but sturdy as fuck.

I forgot to mention. The rebar is a smaller version of the super tool.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:The super tool is huge, but sturdy as fuck.
