Unless you mean that the majority of the people don't have the skills and maturity to carry and operate a firearm in public, safely in the same way that the majority of the people don't have the skills and maturity to drive and operate an automobile in public, safely, (especially when they also have easy access to alcohol and cell phones while doing so), then we are in complete agreement. The difference is that the latter group kills and maims at a rate that the feckless gun owner could only aspire to, and we're never going to do anything about it because the latter case covers all of us and the former covers "those people."

FYI, interesting open carry news- D.C blanket ban on carrying outside the home was just struck down as unconstitutional by the District Court. Impacts me because up till now, if driving through DC I had to sanitize my vehicle, as D.C. categorizes even an empty brass shell as a "device that could be used to construct a firearm" and would send you to prison for possessing one even unintentionally.
