The selfie-addicted solider's Instagram may be vital in proving Russia's involvement in the Ukrainian civil war after images show the active-duty Sotkin operating in the disputed territory.

Take a deep breath Bill. He's just a regular young guy who's bored and posted pictures on line. Anybody who is on instagram can find him, and because it geo-codes photographs automatically, can tell where they were taken.

Not going to change one damn thing. The Europeans are nutless and can do nothing militarily to Russia.
News out of Germany is the Krauts are going to cut a deal. Crimea will be recognized as Russian territory, Ukraine will promise not to join NATO, the eastern Russian speaking Ukrainian provinces will be given autonomy, Ukrainian politicians will be paid off with billions and the Ukraine will sign a long term deal with the Russian State Oil company.
Putin will have achieved all of his short term goals and set Russia up perfectly for their long term goal; annexation of Eastern Ukraine.
The West is incapable of thinking long term. Long term in the decadent west is the next election cycle.

First, instagram not so popular in Russia.
Second, i personally turned off GPS on my smartphone to save battery. The same with Internet. I turned it off to save money and battery.
If he really there, i am sure he would use phone only for calls or sms.
Bill, drop the dumb act. It's obvious to anyone with a passing interest in Russian military affairs that the Eastern Ukrainian Insurgents are Russian Military Intelligence Special Units. The little green men are GRU Spetsnaz
The first indicator is they are sporting the latest and greatest in Russian military gear in Surpat camo. I know this because I own some of it. Russian military gear is quite good. It's not the crap that was feilded in Soviet times. Admittedly, it's as good as anything fielded in the west.
