GG has a plane and a 1000 hp custom Camaro and need buy only top shelf liquor. I'd say he has made it.

Re: The couch thread
does the combative pr actually hurt x-fit, or reinforce it's rebel appeal?
have many boxes been sued for injuries--rhabdo, slap tears, achilles tears? if not, why not? because cult-like believers assume responsibility, even if given misguided programming?
will more tv exposure lead to more questions about ped's, and will that be a problem? (i assume x-fit doesn't want to be the exercise equivalent of pro wrassling)
has any of the negative publicity stuck to reebok?
i wonder whether x-fit can moderate and maintain it's appeal. if you start "selling out," you risk losing the faithful. riding this thing as it is might be more lucrative than making grown-up adjustments.

Re: The couch thread
Good question...has anyone heard of an affiliate being sued for causing injury during normal weekday type training?
Re: The couch thread
We don't have that a big a culture of suing here- although it's almost as bad.
Most just seem to accept it the same way they accept an injury from running or playing football.
They don't have the knowledge to know that what they are doing is stupid shit !

Coke and hookers are expensive !
Look at the numbers of NFL/ basketball players who made it but now don't have a pot to piss in ;-)

Re: The couch thread
GG was older when he started making money, I'm going to assume he's had fun, but he's also invested.
Re: The couch thread
Shaf, the issue isn't about CF's success, they have succeeded rather well... the issue is can they maintain it (or improve it) with the same attitude they have had so far, which is attacking people and holding grudges with the media?
It isn't a small business which is fueled by affiliate fees, L1 certs, etc anymore, now they have major sponsors in the mix.
That is what a lot of people are forgetting, this is far bigger than GG right now

I'm sure that GG and his handpicked team has everything under control. From what I've read, this last Games was an amazing spectacle with a few snafus to be ironed out for next year.

I'm wondering if he's going to pull the plug on the folks supporting Budding's exercise league.
Re: The couch thread
and the games will continue to do well, but that's besides the point. Reebok won't be there forever, and depending how ratings go for the next several years who knows what with ESPN.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:I'm sure that GG and his handpicked team has everything under control. Its not the NFL where people are going to throw money at a billion dollar per year enterprise, its still small-ish but big enough where they need to look to the future in a way where they can leverage more opportunities for themselves.
They are doing well with what they have for now, but... what about 10-20 years down the road?

Re: The couch thread
There was one in Texas (Dallas?) that was sued at least a few years ago for an injury. I think it involved someone hurt doing box jumps. Don't know the result of the case though.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:Good question...has anyone heard of an affiliate being sued for causing injury during normal weekday type training?
Re: The couch thread
It would be fun to have a fitness version of what Oshkosh is to aviation (Mecca) or Sturgis is to breeches-wearing bear men and chicks with tats. Or burning man festival is to...whatever it is that goes there. Throw in some highland games shit, a half-tri, and some rock climbing stuff, etc. Put the grip fanatics in a sideshow tent. Add beer and parties. Hold it at the same site every year, some state fairgrounds where you can camp at.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:I'm sure that GG and his handpicked team has everything under control. Re: The couch thread
10-20 years down the road? The business will have been sold for millions. GG will be even richer than he is now. And someone else will be making a mint off the gullible who dream of having six pack abs.Jay wrote:

Re: The couch thread
For those of you just joining this thread, the hatred and contempt that has propelled it to over 1,300 pages has now reached a boiling point and it has been suggested that @fit may not have a viable enough business model to continue to be successful into the year 2035.

Re: The couch thread
Not a boiling point, legitimate questions because the current methods get them this far, but when growth slows down, or levels off, then what?
That's when companies sell, boards of directors fire CEO's etc, or in this case CF adapts to a different way of doing business to continue growing.

Either of the first two i am pretty sure will be the solution to the issue.j-cubed wrote:GG has a plane and a 1000 hp custom Camaro and need buy only top shelf liquor. I'd say he has made it.

Re: The couch thread
I just put a little post in the Facebook thread. I really like the Russss'ssss, cuz they are fun to read. Imagine the blogger in their mom's basement, kind of the same thing.
Meant to take a picture of a couple of closed x-fit boxes while is Georgia. Outside sign still there, boarded up hillbilly strip mall, would have been killer in black and white.
Russ the Green had just posted that there are 100,000 Level 1 holders in the world. Just wondering how many there are in China?

Re: The couch thread
Quick google...yea, kind of like that. Needs to be later in the year or further south so you can camp out and get your full festival on. March in Ohio = not camping season.Dunn wrote:nafod wrote:It would be fun to have a fitness version of what Oshkosh is to aviation (Mecca) or Sturgis is to breeches-wearing bear men and chicks with tats. How long until the Russells and @fit put the attack dogs on the SAn Francisco Chronicle? They called the "Lalanne Fitness Event" (whatever the fuck that is) a CROSSFIT EVENT/?!?!@??!@?!??!??!!!!
I guess since no one's spine was crushed, @fit will overlook this mistake by the press??
