Just an update here, airspeed indicators were down at the time of the crash. Interesting article.

One of the saddest accidents possible. A perfectly good flying airplane flown into the water, with a bunch of people in the back.

That is a well-written article. William Langewiesche writes well, especially about aviation. Years ago he wrote a good piece on the Air Egypt plane that nosedived into the Atlantic. Google would probably find it.
