just so you don't associate NZ and Australian beers with Steinlager and Fosters respectivly, which both are not drunk by locals with taste.

From Australia:
Pretty much anything from Tasmania. Boag's and Cascade
Little Creatures Pale Ale
Redback

Mainstream beers are generally best avoided ( as I suppose you do with Millers and Bud ).
Crap Aussie beers include Carlton draught and mid, and VB Although the locals like them and Carlton Draught makes some excellent funny ad's ( but shit beer ).

Smithwick's is my new favorite since my brother introduced me to it up in Maine last Fall. Can't find it on tap here yet, but plenty of bottles.
