super bowl commercials

Post by kfitzgerald »

Nothing like watching a bunch of PSA lovey dovey shit. Even better is McDonalds giving out free shot food to fat fuck Americans if they profess their love to someone. We've officially become a nation of faggots. No wonder the Muslim terrorists and Russians have no fear of us. We're too busy professing our love and being weepy eyed. We should embrace our bullies and show them love, then they'll change. When I was young, bullies changed when you punched them in the mouth. And people weren't scared to tell you to do that. Remember kiddies, just tell that crazy fucking Muslim w the sword that we're all one and love conquers all. He'll prob giggle for a second before he lops ur fucking head off.

Nothing to do with being a badass. Don't consider myself one at all. Just a realist. If people don't see the softening and feminization of this country, then they're walking around with their eyes closed.

OK...the commercials mostly sucked. What the fuck was up with all the "daddy" commercials?
I did like the Budweiser commercial where they took ownership of being a Macro brewery and made fun of the "craft" breweries. It's refreshing for a company to admit they're not ashamed of being big.
And I wondered how many viewers would be old enough to get the Pete Rose Skechers ad although I thought it was funny.
Most of the other shit was forgettable.

I'm not a big football fan, or major league team sports fan, so I don't watch much football, but they were showing the Superbowl at work tonight so I watched it. From the opening with Carrie Underwood and some of the NFL players smiling and doing little dances, to the halftime show with Katie Perry and Missy Elliot, my main takeaway from the event was that that pro football lacks any type of masculinity at all. The athleticism is amazing, but I was kind of shocked at how effeminate the entire event was. I don't know if football has always been this way, but growing up my impression was that it was a man's sport, with hard-edged burly dudes battling with each other on the gridiron, not a bunch of pampered celebrities doing dance moves with the latest pop diva.

Still, it was an entertaining game to watch. I was just surprised at the lack of testosterone in the whole production.

Best commercial by far was the Bud Macro Brewery commercial. I love the visual shot of the hipster with his nose stuck in some glass. Perfect visual of what the microbrew movement is becoming. Hipsters ruin everything.

That was a good save by Budweiser after previously airing a lazy sappy ad about a puppy being saved by the Bud horses.

I watched the super bowl at friends house and everyone (men and women) disliked most of the super bowl ads.

Generally I would agree, but after seeing an ad for toenail fungus, I'm not sure what they're marketing for anymore.

VW ad with Darth Vader kid from a couple years back is my new benchmark.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Well not quite on topic but I didn't turn on the tv till about 4:00 p.m. and the wife wanted to see what was up with the "Puppy Bowl" on Animal Planet. We could not stop watching it. C'mon now, puppies, kittens, baby goats and I think there was a parrot in there somewhere sending out "tweets." Even the blackest cold heart would have gotten a chuckle out of that.

Most of the ads were bland, forgettable, and depressing. Can someone explain that Nissan ad about the kid & his race car-driving dad? Driving a Nissan means you don't have to raise your son? WTF?

I do remember the "... like a girl" ads. When they asked what it looked like to "fight like a girl," I thought they would air the Janae Rice elevator video.

The fucking chick self-esteem shit was laughable. Just like the empty self centered harpies they are, the feminists are ruining the super bowl. Women don't lack self-esteem because some boy used the phrase "hits like a girl". Women have self esteem issues because of other women. It's like a national pass time.

Some folks around here pointed out that having the Nissan ad showing a NASCAR car wreck while playing "Cat's in the Cradle" was in poor taste as Harry Chapin died in a car wreck near here. Personally, I never would have put 2+2 together but I've never been accused of being overly sensitive. I just thought the ad sucked.

Not really a commercial but the Ted 2 trailer was pretty funny.
