Ha ha bitches. New car!
Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Not the bigger Grand Cherokee. Smaller. About the size of a Subaru but heavier (over 4000 pounds.) V6. Feels good on the highway and is up to the Rubicon Trail in Moab. It is the on-road off-road vehicle I've always wanted and thought couldn't be built.

Did you get the rollcage upgrade?

Looks pretty sweet
Re: Ha ha bitches. New car!
Interesting... I didn't realize they had any kind of focus on things like this any more. Lady across the street bought what looks to be a regular model 2015 cherokee and her mom has an old xj cherokee (guessing a 1990s model). I figured the newer ones had no relationship, off road performance-wise, to the old ones. These new ones actually have the capacity to carry my dirt bike on a hitch mount carrier so that's cool...

Yeah, Kirk. The old xj Cherokee was a revered vehicle and Jeep fan boys screamed when they saw the new iteration. Looking like that and on a Dodge Dart frame, it just couldn't match the old Cherokee. Well, I had an old Cherokee. It was great. So far, this new one has done everything I asked it to do (nothing extreme yet) and it is comfortable on the highway. Gets 25 mph there. More spacious than you'd think. You can get a couple of lunky guys my size in the thing and not bump elbows.
Jeep doesn't have a stellar rep for reliability, so I bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty. 5 years and 100,000 miles.
I will report back in a few years. Hold your breath.

You don't trust Fiat to improve Jeep's reliability?seeahill wrote: Jeep doesn't have a stellar rep for reliability, so I bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty. 5 years and 100,000 miles.

Smart. Always a good idea if you plan on keeping a vehicle a long time. And they are refundable if you trade it in.

You can also shop your wrap warranty around, which can result in saving a lot on them (though you can't roll it into the car loan if you wait)
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
