Companies such as WWE and ESPN feed off of controversy in an attempt to be edgy enough for people to watch. I actually didn't think the Hogan news was real but a brilliant storyline to crossover into mainstream media. I am still not entirely convinced of it but, in either situation, he's a wrestler who is 20 years past his prime and easy enough to sacrifice.

Cowherd was hired to be a shock jock to talk to himself about sports for hours each morning. ESPN, slipping in numbers, happened to fire him a few days after he resigned to (likely) jump to FOX?

Cowherd generally insults a group of people, usually hockey or baseball players, every week or so.

Firing a guy after he quit for doing what he has already done to either smear him before he signs with your competitor or to appeal to the masses who love political correctness is a douchebag move for any company.

It's obvious that playing baseball doesn't require a super intellect.

It's equally obvious that the Dominican Republic doesn't have the best education system in the world.

Saying A can't be hard because B can do it would be bigotry in most people's books.

Actually, I take that back.

I know it sounds insane but I actually listened to what he said. Not the 12-second sound byte but the entire bit. I listened to him explain it in the next show as well. In the context of what he was discussing, no way it was a bigoted statement. He tossed "Dominican Republic" out there but that wasn't even what it was about.
