An OG IGx'er posted how one can 'unfollow' folks without 'unfriending' them. In his case, I actually get it given he's an internet trainer and unfriending people can't be all that good for biz. For the rest of you douchebags, I heartily disagree with any and all of you who keep 'friends' yet 'unfollow' them. If you do that to anyone you do not have an order of protection against, I beg you to not unfollow me, but unfriend me. I humbly request you shoot me a quick IM to let me know so I know where I might stand with you.....not to mention understanding the low caliber of your temperament. You're a fuckng quiff at best.

I wouldn't have friended you in the first place. However, if I made that mistake I would quickly rectify it by unfriending, not unfollowing.

Someone on FB made a good observation: it's good to take in viewpoints that you don't agree with. The only people I unfriend are those who post purely self-promoting or purely political stuff. If you want to be my "friend," at least occasionally post something friend-like.

But I do delete comments from my Timeline that I think are off-base. Or even just annoying. Example: I shared a photo about the anniversary of "Blackhawk Down" in Mogadishu and one of my "Friends" gave it a political spin. Comment gone.

I try to post pictures of me or my dog at least once a week so people have something nice to look at......

I block people that irritate me by being dumb.....which in this case includes most of my long term IRL friends. I even ghosted the best man at my wedding.

IGX peeps make some rubbish arguments but all in all the thicker skin and sense of humor results in them being better behaved than my 'bleeding edge of the unwashed cunt liberal friends"...The group of folks i interact with I share maybe 20% of their politics and no more than 30% of their cultural sensibilities...but I'd trust every one of you to be reliable contributors to society.

I like bikes, pictures, funny stuff, health/fitness related stuff, and sexual innuendos that may offend most of my RL friends.

Funny the term 'thick skin' was mentioned. Just yesterday, I posted to a gal I grew-up with who is still one of the very few who lives in the area we grew up in that she'd be stunned to know how thin skinned people are outside of our neighborhood we grew up in.

As an aside, I popped the cherry of her insanely hot best friend and plowed her regularly.

So I'm not sure why I am even mentioning this, but I've been on/off on IM with this chick since yesterday. She informed me that the insanely hot BFF of hers, the one whose cherry I took and then plowed many times, that I broke her heart and I had no clue but I was a young asshole at the time and for some crazy reason, women came to me very easily. Call me emo or whatevs but I feel really bad about this as this girl was a total sweetie....trust me, ZERO REGRETS at what I landed and have, but I still feel bad, learning this, all these years later....it's bugged me out a bit.

No, there's a tad more depth to it than that, Shafbama. If you can't or don't want to deal with someone, just be magnanimous about it and do them the favor by way 'unfriend' them vs. somehow blocking them or 'unfollowing' them so they at least know where they stand. Keeping a 'friend' yet 'unfollowing' them is a very weenie move to do that to people when they don't know it's happening. Very disingenuous if you want me to use a more sophisticated term, but the term weenie really fits well on this topic.

Where the "unfollow" strategy has merit is usually with family. Everybody has the nutty conservative/liberal family member who posts crazy shit continuously and I just can't have that shit on there but I don't want to unnecessarily hurt any feelings. I may be a little bit of a captain obvious here but the real struggle with the Facebooks is friending workplace friends. Be careful my mongoloid brothers.

I cultivate a policy of maintaining a breadth of contacts and acquaintances of all sorts, from the extreme left to the extreme right, in the same way that I choose to review and consider news media sources from all points on the spectrum, from mainstream bullshit to fringe bullshit.

My sole criterion for social media is other people in my circle need to be interesting. That's an entirely arbitrary benchmark set by me, subject to review at any time.

More than once, my position of radical centrism, combined with my innate inability to refrain from winding people up has led to me being unfriended by both far-left and far-right humorless fucks.

True story, this past spring my lifelong former best buddy, who in recent years has gone full-retard MRA unfriended me for gently fucking with him after he was foaming at the mouth on my page. It's sad to see someone diminish with the years.

No one has unfriended me in the past few weeks. Of course, I have no idea if I've been 'unfollowed' but if I have, by anyone, I'd rather they 'unfriend' me and have the decency to let me know who they are. Anything less is pure faggy.

So, my wife has a page, and she has a number of "minority" friends that we went to school with back in high school. As is the nature of the nigbeast, her newsfeed became a never ending torrent of hood fight videos, Pro-Obama "he my President and he da best ever" memes, pictures of Kermit drinking sweet tea while passing personal judgments against some unnamed ne'er-do-well, assorted #blacklivesmatter and anti-cop social "commentary", and single mothers by choice singing their never ending chorus of being a "boss bitch" whilst pursuing their career opportunities with Subway, Sonic, and the state welfare system.

I never friend people from work or people I do business with.

That said..I killed my account a couple days back somewhat randomly and I couldn't be more pleased with that decision.
