Bob Mould
Rocking harder in his early 50s than he has since his early 30s. I would put "The Descent," "The War," and some of his live performances of the Workbook stuff right up with his stuff from Sugar. The volume is maybe down to 9 from 10 and the music has an air of reckoning instead of unloading, but he is doing some great work. Long may he rage.
His biography, "See A Little Light (The Trail of Rage and Melody)" is a great read as well. Honest, reflective, etc. etc.
Going to see him this Friday in Boston...very excited.

Re: Bob Mould
Silver Age was great. I haven't picked up the newer one yet, but will do so once I get some coin together.
I saw him play at a podunk little club in Silver Springs, MD a few years ago. For a dude that can't hear, like, at all, he puts on a pretty fucking loud show.
Also, as Mould is a self-identified bear who wrote for World Championship Wrestling for many years, I assume he'd fit right in here.

Husker Du (his first and best band) in Sacramento in 1983. About 150 people in the crowd and they played like it was their last show-just tore it up.Koko, Beware wrote:Sugar at Roseland in nyc in...94?

I may be old, but I got to see the good bands...

Man I wish I'd gotten to see the Huskers. Even watching clips of them it's like "yeah, that's what it's like to be really young and creative...and on speed" So great.

His show was so damned good. Best one I have ever been to--backing band of Narducy on bass and Wurster on drums is absolutely frigging titanic. If you get a chance to catch this tour, you will absolutely want to. I think he is in Cleveland tonight.

Saw Bob again, this time a solo electric at the Sinclair in Cambridge. He played 9 songs that he is taking into the studio with his band next year. They are really, really good and will sound incredible with a full band. Looking forward to it.
