MMA gym in Venice beach drama.
So far it's OK, I'm only 2 episodes in.
I like the drugs (painkillers and HGH so far) and the pretty people in it. The fighting is OK, but the first fight relied on the old tactic of "Fighter goes it, gets the shit kicked out of him for half the fight, then comes back and beats his opponent thoroughly"
On the "Audience" network? Seems to be a DirectTV thing, I can get it on demand. You can find it via torrent too. First episode is online on youtube.
Now, Nick Jonas is in it..so...meh...

Re: Kingdom
Direct TV has a season one marathon going, and I'm binge-watching. Started a bit weak, with the flaws Shaf ID'd. But it's picking up steam. I like it.

Re: Kingdom
I felt it ended strong. Looking forward to the next season.
Re: Kingdom
Most of the actors are terrible at the fisticuffs and it's mildly painful to watch. The workout routines seem bodybuilder/xfit influenced, but probably a lot of MMA gyms are that way. And they did try to throw in a little JJ instruction, leading up to an Omoplata in episode 2 or 3.
So far, I'd grade it a B+ for that genre. Good acting & character development. And I don't know which one is Nick Jonas, so he must not be a terrible actor. (Is he the fat avocado-fucking room mate in the Halfway House?)
Also, Cub Swanson & Chris Leben get a little facetime. I look forward to other familiar faces. AND - MOAR of that hot little Asian chick with her top off.

OH, this series does not disappoint. She was back around episode 8 or 9...too brief a performance, but I loved it.TerryB wrote:Wait, what??johno wrote:AND - MOAR of that hot little Asian chick with her top off.

The son is Nick Jonas. Not the rebellious son, but he one who craves *spoiler*

I forgot about that scene. I was dying.

OK. If they haven't jumped the Shark, they're surfing on top of it.

Re: Kingdom
This last episode suspiciously reeked of 'Sons of Anarchy' (unnecessary convoluted plot), I hate each and every one of the characters (they're a bunch of self-loathing white trash assholes) but, somehow, I kinda like the show. It's like waiting for a train wreck to happen, you don't really look forward to it but you can't quit watching either.johno wrote:OK. If they haven't jumped the Shark, they're surfing on top of it.

You ever seen a cycling plumber who wrestles with small calves, forearms and neck? Didn't think so.
