Oliver Burkeman's 'The Antidote' is good - self help viewed from the position of a skeptic.
Jane McGonigal's Superbetter is interesting but I got it as an audiobook and that was the wrong choice. Stopped after 30 minutes to wait until I can read it.

I'd recommend Peter Ralston's, Pursuing Consciousness. He has a good writing style, and the book is full of nuggets.

I've written about these before, but I really liked Laurence Gonzales' books "Deep Survival" and "Surviving Survival".
I also liked "The Genius in All of Us".
Mastery by George Leonard was a great one. Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, of course.

Will Storr, The Heretics. Misleading title, very honest book on how we see the world.

Read Mike Lewis' "The Big Short" and "Liar's Poker". "Moneyball" damn good too.
Anything by Malcolm Gladwell is good too.

There's a new book out I saw while randomly prowling Barnes and noble called "F*ck Feelings" which has a series of chapters like "fuck relationships" and "fuck fairness", etc., that is worth a gander. Pretty funny while offering a constructive living-ish slant. Here's a review.milosz wrote:Oliver Burkeman's 'The Antidote' is good - self help viewed from the position of a skeptic.

"Wherever You Go" would be a better introduction to JKZ, especially if you aren't interested in the clinical application of his research.Koko, Beware wrote:Hah--wish I had seen this post a few hours earlier: just used a gift card to get another of his titles as an intro.syaigh wrote:

I would suggest Proto's training log, but you said non-fiction.

You ever seen a cycling plumber who wrestles with small calves, forearms and neck? Didn't think so.

I second this. It was recommended here by The Shafbama. It's an easy and fast read as it's well-written and super interesting to think we can do with our bodies if we put our minds into it, or better said, take our minds out of it.

Deep was great. I might try some free diving this summer, depending on circumstances. I'd like to be able to dive 30-50 feet while I'm snorkeling.
Aside from that, I like Resilence by that SEAL guy, but it's very introspective reading. Still not done after having it for months.
I don't read a lot of non fic, when o do it's usually training related (broad based, not just weights) or cooking shit.
