The couch thread

Re: The couch thread
Married friends started the "powerlifting" track (which somehow still doesn't appear to be a set protocol and has a couple of days/week of metcons and shit) at a CF box run by someone the wife knew in high school. She's injury free so far but he tore his labrum inside of three months and is just now back after a few months of recovery.
They talked another friend (with a bad back from his time in the military) into joining, the couch thought it was a good idea to have this guy who hadn't lifted a weight in 10 years and a bad back do an AMRAP push press workout the first week.

Nope. Individual workout.Shapecharge wrote:Not trying to defend them so please don't be hatin' on me but this is most likely a "group" workout where it is timed but they all share the workload. So the fastest guy runs the the 800, they split up the rest of the work amongst the group. I only know this because I have some friends who absolutely love @Fit and have told me about this type of workout. I swear this is some serious 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon shit right here...we all know someone or someone once removed that is fully and completely dedicated to @Fit. I've got five in my circle of friends.

I like to think he has entrance music when he goes to HQ, probably Gin & Juice.I dig big chicks wrote:Glassman supervised the workout today at CFHQ, and it was this fucking mess.

I drink gin every day! I'm using it to get off the beer. I've been weening myself down, with it. I'm down to 3 oz. of gin, a day, now. Two shots.
That won't make me turn out like Glassman, will it?

HUGE LOL at the commentary starting around 14:50.
"Huge credit to Dave Castro. Don't know what his preparation was like"
"Yeah, if you aren't normally working out, if you aren't normally training, throwing yourself into a workout like this is painful, to say the least."

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
