Subaru Outback With Good Tires
Drove hours and hours through snow, blizzards, and whiteout conditions along Lakes Ontario & Erie. Great Lakes lake effect snow at its finest. Cars & trucks off the road everywhere. Had several minor near misses and two major ones, including an old Mercury Marquis that spun out while passing me. I evaded it by inches.
A Subaru Outback with good tires in the snow, is a damn good thing.

Subarus are great cars. It also helps if you know how to drive in the snow.
Out here in Seattle, in the 33% of winters that we get real snow, it's a nightmare. I was on duty for a couple of snowstorms, and spent a bit of time on the freeway driving people's cars out of slick spots. The worst snow-driving car of the day: a Mercedes sedan. Absolutely sucked. And here I was blaming its hot Asian driver when the Krauts were to blame.

I had one and it truly didn't give a shit in some really bad snow. That 2011 Chicago blizzard put everything off the road, and I moved my car (had to) without much challenge.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

I miss my old TrailBlazer, was a complete beast in the snow, have the SUV Explorer, the last year they made it and it is after last year's New England winter. My Buick on the other hand sucks.

Yep, same here.
Are you using winter tires? Which ones?

Flat out the best all season radial I've ever had was this:
https://www.nokiantires.com/winter-tires/nokian-wrg3/
These turned my Ford Flex into a mediocre winter drive to a good winter drive. On a vehicle with some clearance these perform even better. The Michigan State Police equipped these on their Tahoes, at least in 2011.
Super solid in the rain. Good on dry.
Flat out the all around best tire I ever bought

My Mazda CX-5 all wheel drive impressed the shit out of me last winter.
