Re: Ferriss gets took
I listen to his podcasts fairly regularly. They have improved through the years, primarily, ok, almost exclusively due to the quality of guests he has on.
The thing is that he's a shitty conversationalist that runs through the same ten questions in every damn podcast and frequently interrupts the guest to remind people that he's actually world class in...something or the other or simply name drop.
Each podcast has the following exchange basically:
Guest: "something interesting and profound"
Ferriss: "Yeah, uh, what do you have for breakfast."
Guest: "What? Um, oatmeal and eggs."
Ferriss: "And what does your meditation routine look like?"
Guest: "I played around with vipassana in college but don't really do much now."
Ad copy: "GUEST REVEALS NEVER BEFORE SHARED DIET AND MEDITATION HACKS THAT HAVE RESULTED IN A BILLION DOLLARS IN SALES"
It's his ad copy for his podcasts that really is the worst. He appears to write it up before the guest is on and doesn't pay attention to the interesting crap that comes up. A typical
Also, whenever he speaks on any area that I have more than a basic understanding of, he sounds entirely full of shit which makes me question everything else.

I will say Louie's portugese or brazilian buddy who does the interview does a great job of setting Lou up.

Also, his books are somewhat interesting but the "content" he promotes is the purest form of crap. If he promotes a book, it's a fair bet he's invested in it and the quality of his foray into audio books (http://www.amazon.com/The-Tao-Seneca-Pr ... B01AIXEJ0U) is puzzling considering the cash he has and the price he charges.

Damn. You must do a lot of driving.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:My gay list of podcasts on my podcaster app
Blue Collar Radio (Shelby Starnes)
The Strength Doc (John Rusin, whom I think is wrong a lot, but they are short)
Ben Greenfield...like I said before, I haven't listened to one
Magness and Marcus on Coaching
Jocko
Sam Harris - good, overall
Jugg Life - not as bad as I though
Westside Barbell - the entertainment value is here, as well as crazy fucking shit
Perception and Action Podcast..IDK why I even have this on the list, except sometimes they nerd the fuck out on some obscure point
Rdella - iffy
Beyond the Champion -- lulz..these guys are brits and their podcast is tainted with dumb shit
Modern Musclehead - Krahn and his buddy's podcast...ok
Super Strength Show...sorry climber, this one is usually junk
Art of Manliness - runs hot and cold
Sigma Nutrition - have never listened to a single episode
Body IO - fucking kiefer
Tim ferriss - see above
Jay Ferruggia - it's like punching myself in the dick
London Real - shit, or SHITE BROWN IDO AND the wandering JUJITS fitness guru
Performance Podcast - shit
Common Sense - good
Hardcore history - good
Mark Bell's Powercast...sometimes, a lot of fuckery
Mike Mahler's...this one is hit and miss. Mike and Sincere do a ton of dick sucking on this, which aggravates me
Iron Radio - almost not worth listening to...
Power Athlete - I like it for the humor, have some decent interviews
Robb Wolf - Robb's an old buddy, but it's been delving into some conspiracy type shit
Joe Rogan - we all know this.

I think when Carlin was putting out Blueprint For Armageddon I was getting a lot more cardio.

Doing Super Strength was the most polished production in terms of questions, pre interview, graphics, etc.
Robb Wolf is an old buddy and we had fun. I teased him about gluten and he had fun with it.
Power Athlete was fun... but it's a LOT of people talking.
Mike and Sincere was an easy one.. both friends so there is rapport.
Fight Camp Conditioning was really quick.. messaged me in the morning then did it around noon.
Just did Strength Matters. Haven't listened to them so I didn't know what to expect. They actually did their homework and read my stuff. It should be out in several weeks. They loaded a back log of interview.
I've grown to like Joe Rogan's stuff.. mainly the fight talk,.. but other things. I need to listen to others for diversity.

Let's just be honest. S&C podcasts are in general, Alex Jones InfoWars level shitty.

Yeah. We can expand that to 'most podcasts'
Re: Ferriss gets took
Immediate dealbreaker for me are shitty sounding phone interviews. If you can't get your guest to a landline, if not in the same room, fuck off.

I prefer text and transcripts.
Much easier, much faster way to sift through information.

Probably a fair assessment.

Re: Ferriss gets took
He can definitely come off that way, but that's more an artifact of being extremely well versed in his areas of focus.
The guy knows his shit, and sometimes you can see how much it pains him when he tries to explain concepts to lesser beings.
Like when BD talks to me.

Re: Ferriss gets took
I think the deal with HARRIS is this, He's game to throw down but wants the fight according to some pretty genteel ROE. He expects people to rebut with logic or reasoned arguments and yet he ends up on panels with Deecock Chopra and a bunch of fundy nutters. Or worse..NOAMCHOMSKY...gah. It's a bit of his own fault that he gets exhausted cause he is stuck in a continuous dialogue with people like Glenn Greenwald who cannot engage with much beyond demagoguery and far right or far left clap trap.
By the same token, he gives people like Jocko Willinck and Rogan a total pass becuase in part, they are dolts. So Sam bounces between people he hopes would be intellectual equals and people with fascinating insights and life experience but the intellectual chops of a ham sandwich.

I made myself listen to his entire debate with the Chopra guy about science and God.
Good lord, it was awful.

Re: Ferriss gets took
His rebuttal to Chomsky was anything but genteel and reasoned. He got whiny and pouty and only got worse from there, particularly when PZ Myers jumped in on him.
Re: Ferriss gets took
Jocko's podcast is worthwhile. If Ferris did something right, it was nudging him out there.

Re: Ferriss gets took
What's good about it? I've not listened. His experiences were as interesting as any I've heard on the subject matter but his ability to reflect intellectually was staggeringly poor. He came off as a caricature of a Naval Officer and not someone I could listen to more than say 20 minutes of in a row.Luke wrote:Jocko's podcast is worthwhile. OTOH..that fucking SWAT operator Harris had on came off as fairly typical Cop but clearly was comfortable with reflection and honesty. I found him pretty compelling.

If you had to listen to Chomsky dodge and cunt around I bet you wouldnt last 30 seconds wihtout
A) pouting
B) gutting him like a fish.
I truly believe Chomsky to be one of the most dangerously deluded voices on the left. I'd gladly watch him beheaded by ISIS on a YT vid....I'd watch that shit for days.
