Cruz drops out, Trump actually going to be GOP nominee
Holy fuckballs what a shitshow.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Hillary and Dems got exactly what they said they wanted. To run against Trump. Reported this morning that $36MM was spent on ads for the NeverTrump campaign. Cruz contributed the 2nd most to these ads at $4.3MM. Not surprisingly Hillary was number 1@ $5MM to buy these ads.
Everything I thought I knew about politics has been wrong. Having said that I don't know shit, I'm already giving West Virginia to Trump in upcoming election. The other 49 are up for grabs. The shitshow is just getting started.

Pretty sure Hilldawg would rather run against literally anybody else in the 17 candidate field, except perhaps Rubio before he tanked.DikTracy6000 wrote:Hillary and Dems got exactly what they said they wanted. To run against Trump.
Trump's support has been immune to bad policy, scandal or gaffes. He got something like $2B in free media coverage in the primaries. I think he'll lose huge, but he's a huge wildcard, and if you're a democrat you'd rather not see the high risk of an unprecedented opponent type.

Running against Trump will be like Hillary's personal Viet Nam, or Bosnia.Grandpa's Spells wrote:Pretty sure Hilldawg would rather run against literally anybody else in the 17 candidate field, except perhaps Rubio before he tanked.DikTracy6000 wrote:Hillary and Dems got exactly what they said they wanted. Re: Cruz drops out, Trump actually going to be GOP nominee
I was talking to a colleague from Cleveland this week. He's leaving town with his family the week of the Repug convention out of fear of a repeat of the 1968 Chicago riots.
There are so many wild cards on the table from Trump crazy talk, to rebellious Trump hating Repugs, to rioting lefties waving Mexican flags, to Hillary and/or minions potentially being indicted that I wonder if rational analysis is even possible. At the very least, traditional red state vs. blue state historical trends and analysis is out the window.

Let's keep in mind 1968 riots were at Democrat Convention and in Democrat controlled cities.
Let's also at least consider that every time some illegals protest Trump by looting and pillaging because Trump said they were Rapists and Killers (lots of Kate Steinle's out there, and not even counting illegal's favorite crime, DUI...), more folks get on the Trump train.
i thought after the nonsense at Mizzou a line had been crossed and folks with jobs and a life had had enough of the usual suspects and their antics.
So while it is anybody's race still, and that includes Burnie it seems after his win last night in Indiana, Trump appears to be Hilliary's worst nightmare, somebody who will not play by the rules, will go after her and her husband ruthlessly, and is immune to the boring and predictable "racist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, blah, blah, blah" boilerplate.
This oughta be great political theater.

This fall is going to be some crazy shit.
We get a few months of Trump and Bernie tag-teaming Hillary before the Dem convention. Yes, let your mind go there.

Hillary will crush Trump in the general. Anyone trying to convince himself otherwise is delusional.
Demographics are already against the GOP - banking on ever increasing numbers of white male support to win national elections has reached the point of diminishing returns (as the number of white male voters can't keep up with the level of support needed). Throw in a divisive reality TV nutjob who is only enticing to the people who already support him and a Democrat that Wall Street money finds perfectly acceptable and this could hand the Senate back to Democrats in the same election.
Trump's ascendancy is a vision where the British National Party doesn't exist and has just gained enough power to take over the Tories. (Bernie being Jeremy Corbyn but American Dems like winning elections so they recruited Tony Blair's wife.)

Hillary and the Democratic establishment wouldn't have pushed all in if there was any chance of that coming to a damaging head. They're a party of hedging bets, I'm sure some of them have inside info from the FBI investigation.

I'm inclined to believe you, but I've been wrong about a hell of a lot this year, politics-wise. It's my theory for why Bernie is hanging around.milosz wrote:Hillary and the Democratic establishment wouldn't have pushed all in if there was any chance of that coming to a damaging head. Unless he does something particularly stupid, he's going to put states in play that have been dark blue for a long time. Van Jones, former Obamaite minion and SJW extraordinaire, says that Trump could turn 30% of blacks in his direction and if he can get 1/2 of that group to vote for him, he wins.vern wrote:If Trump turns Pennsylvania red, it's over.
The black economy sucks under Obama and the same job creating message he's giving to working whites will resonate. And, unlike every other white politician, blacks know him well. They've seen him work with blacks on every season of the Celebrity Apprentice and blacks have done well there.
He's a white candidate unlike any the Dems have ever seen. The old playbook won't work like it did with McCain/Romney.
