Amazon fire stick
Legit. Faster and more intuitive interface than my smart tvs. My older tv won't do Amazon prime. Doesn't stutter and shut down during peak house like my vizio's tend to do.
Add the Kodi app and some add ons and legitimately you could cut your cable off.

I love mine. Totally transformed my "non-smart" tv.
Re: Amazon fire stick
How does it compare to the offerings that gaming consoles give? I use my PS4 & it has made cable a thing of the past.

You can get more sketchy sites on it
Re: Amazon fire stick
We use a Roku Stick. Very satisfied, no cable, barely use any over the air TV. Quite inexpensive, and restored our smart TV to full function. Vizio wasn't updating it's apps anymore.

Did you get a jailbroken one? I just ordered one on Ebay for about $60. From what I understand you can get first run everything on it.

Re: Amazon fire stick
You don't need to jailbreak it, you just need to google "fire stick add ons", add a few apps to it, then add some of the gray streaming movie sites

Re: Amazon fire stick
What I read online now, is that if you bought a 'jailbroke' fire stick, you are basically just buying a stick someone loaded KODI onto and put a KODI build allowing access to assorted streaming sites...which takes about 10 minutes to do anyway.
BD: If it's an older stick, you can flash it to the new version of the software and I think it should work then.
It looks like it's going to be pretty convenient for traveling, actually.

I will set the 13 year old to work on this.

Re: Amazon fire stick
So I've been using this thing (firestick + kodi) for a few days, and the quality is very spotty. There are times when everything comes in very clearly (daytime usually), without delay, but in the evening (when usage is probably high) I can't get anything. If I can get a stream to load at all, it's very choppy or pixelated. But mostly, nothing loads.
Any pointers? I don't have a teenager to help me out; and my son is 24, and I can't tolerate the eye rolling when I ask a techie question.

Re: Amazon fire stick
Kodi can be iffy.
I've found the same thing..streaming at night can be a difficult proposition. On top of that, some of the movie quality is sketchy. Best bet, I've found, is to stick to movies that have been recently released on a pay per view platform..those seem to work best. Plus, you really need excessive speeds on your internet.
However, I did find Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Go stream way better from the Firestick than from the native apps on my smart TV.

Re: Amazon fire stick
Find your bandwidth at night with testmy.net - if you've got shitty home Internet that clogs when everyone on your block is home streaming, that will be the bottleneck.
AT&T UVerse was shit on this front when I had it. Cable, I'm actually getting the advertised 100mbps and the only time I have issues streaming is on the server end (HBO Go overwhelmed by Game of Thrones, UFC.tv just blowing ass in general)

I saw Ant Man a few nights ago and it was fairly good.

Ugh. I haven't see any comic book movies since I walked out of Deadpool after 15 minutes.

I told you that the pegging scene wasn't until 17 minutes or so.TerryB wrote:Ugh. I haven't see any comic book movies since I walked out of Deadpool after 15 minutes.

Re: Amazon fire stick
I am disappointed....I thought that a fire stick was either something you used to start a fire or a gun.....
