Latest from ISIS

Post by johno »

Coming on strong with the "small ball" attacks. But heavy on symbolism this time, nearly beheading a priest.

Two men claiming allegiance to Islamic State killed a priest and gravely injured another person Tuesday during morning Mass at a church in a northern French town, authorities said, the latest in a string of attacks that have shocked Western Europe over the last two weeks.

Why not?

What is Europe going to do, deport every Muslim? Some are recently arrived "refugees" and "asylum seekers" but others, including one of the two that beheaded the priest today, are 2nd or 3rd generation French or German.

It's the ideology and you can't eliminate it, and Europe won't deport people who practice or might practice it or even put them all under surveillance, put them on watch lists, etc because Hitler.

So, yes. It's Europe's new normal.

I read another story about young Muslim men harassing Germans at a nude swimming pool.

Does anyone see this decreasing over the next 5, 10, 15 years?

Maybe not the new normal, at least over time. Here's pollyanna's view.

ISIS loses all its territory. Begins to look like losers to the middle eastern guy on the street.

Their social media presence loses its potency and ability to recruit (who wants to join a bunch of losers).

Meanwhile, an increased anti-ISIS social media presence gains traction.

Every nation with a birth rate below 2.0 is committing cultural suicide.

And what happens to all the crazies when they're little "state" is occupied by someone else? They don't stop believing. And they still have social media and the internet to broadcast their little screeds and random attacks. Do you think the San Bernardino shooters would be dissuaded by the lack of a caliphate?

I don't see the random attacks across the globe ending anytime soon.

Then again, maybe you're right because until they established a caliphate, we didn't have this garbage.

I read in a great article in the Atlantic a year back or so, that they believe there will be a final battle at one particular place. We should invite them to join us in a glorious battle, the end of times battle. Then nuke them. Losing the battle of the apocalypse would probably put a pretty big nail in their caliphate's coffin.

From what I read, the greatest attraction of ISIS is the establishment of the caliphate, as prophesied in the Koran. Instead, the West needs to push them off that land, embarrass them in combat, and portray them as the Weak Horse.

And in the long game, influence more imams and Muslims around the world to condemn Islamic Jihad.

The problem is the disease of religion. I say we find a way to disperse Ayahuasca as a vapor. Once you've met god a couple times the thrill wears off.

Europe has an integration problem.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

You can probably reduce that to something even dumber if you try hard enough.

They overthrew the secular governments in the Arab world, which enabled the Islamists (they have sponsored) come to power.
Yes, it is Europe's fault.

Heh.

Let's use an example where everybody's Christiand and white. Britain didn't have an Irish Catholic problem. They had a treating-people-like-shit-who-weren't-going-anywhere problem. The Catholics weren't somehow deranged by ethnicity or religion.

You can be a 3rd generation French Alergian and still be stuck in a Paris ghetto. I don't know if it's the lack of melting pot, tons of political parties that allow for small noisy groups of open racists, or whatever, but much of Western Europe is not cool to immigrants or their kids and many are quite open about it. It makes home-grown radicalization easier.

For a start, I always get the impression you (Americans), see Europe as a kind of United States. That couldn't be further from the truth.

Does Afghanistan have an integration problem? A bomb went off there a few days ago, killing many.

Does the Ivory Coast have an integration problem? Islamic killers shot a bunch of people on the beach there awhile back.

Does Mali have an integration problem? Islamic terrorists killed a bunch of people in a mall there.

Does San Bernardino have an integration problem? Two islamic killers shot a bunch of people in an office there, including white, black, jew, and vietnamese.
