I'm waiting for Trump to blurt out the truth about women in Combat Arms...of course, he would completely lose the female college grad vote. ("I know women can fight, I've seen GI Jane and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.")
BUT I would vote multiple times for him if he did that, as would most other Combat Arms vets.
BUTT: There are so many vets in the world, you can find a handful who support any/every position imaginable. Think Jessie Ventura, spread through the political spectrum.

Seriously, Trump would be so fucking at home here.
He just suggested that Clinton's Secret Service bodyguards "...should drop all weapons. They should disarm immediately." Followed by, "Take their guns away, let's see what happens to her."

The news media was in quite a froth this morning about this and the way he played them with the birtherism announcement. Should we call it the Sidney Blumenthal birtherism issue?
Speaking of racist "othering" of our president, here's a blast from the past from the liberal press at PoliticoIt now looks like those "harsh attacks" that Blumenthal spread included birtherism. James Asher, former editor of McClatchy's DC bureau alleged Friday that Blumenthal had in fact directly brought the allegations to the newspaper chain in 2008 and asked them to investigate.
Blumenthal denied that he'd spread the rumor in an email to the Boston Globe. But later in the day, McClatchy itself made it clear that the charge has merit. In fact the chain sent a reporter to Kenya at Blumenthal's urging, to look into what he had to say "and that reporter determined that the allegation was false."
Hillary hit piece photo belowObama campaign manager David Plouffe accused the Clinton campaign Monday of "shameful offensive fear-mongering" by circulating a photo as an attempted smear.
Plouffe was reacting to a banner headline on the Drudge Report saying that aides to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) had e-mailed a photo calling attention to the African roots of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)....“On the very day that Senator Clinton is giving a speech about restoring respect for America in the world, her campaign has engaged in the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election. This is part of a disturbing pattern that led her county chairs to resign in Iowa, her campaign chairman to resign in New Hampshire, and it’s exactly the kind of divisive politics that turns away Americans of all parties and diminishes respect for America in the world," said Plouffe.

*edit
Looks like the Clinton's sacrificial lamb in Iowa was fired but trusted confidante Sidney Blumenthal was neck deep in the vile racist "othering" according to McClatchyDC and McClatchy is far from being an alt-right source.
No wonder the Obama administration refused to allow Hillary to hire Blumenthal at the state department. This is the same Sidney Blumenthal whose smudgy fingerprints are all over the Libyan debacle. Hating on Trump birtherism has merit but the evidence shows that the "otherings" of Obama based on his African roots started with the Clintons and was approved by super slimy associates deep inside Clintonland.Patti Solis Doyle, Clinton’s campaign manager during part of the 2008 race, told CNN on Friday that an Iowa campaign worker had passed on an email about the birther conspiracy and that Clinton quickly fired him.
Solis Doyle said she’d called Obama campaign official David Plouffe at the time “to apologize and basically say that this was not coming from us. It was a rogue volunteer coordinator.”
Phil Singer, Clinton’s 2008 campaign press secretary, said by email Friday: “The idea that the Hillary Clinton campaign had anything to do with spreading the birther issue has as much credibility as the birther issue itself: none. It didn’t happen.”
Meanwhile, former McClatchy Washington Bureau Chief James Asher tweeted Friday that Blumenthal had “told me in person” that Obama was born in Kenya.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

One thing I noticed while driving across the country over the last week-- very few Trump signs and even fewer Hillary signs. Judging by the signs overall, the most important races nationwide are for sheriff.

This analogy doesn't work. Presumably these drivers are licensed and insured. They may be engaged in something illegal but they are legally on the road. All they have to do to comply is slow down. If they are not legally there, they have to vacate the roadway. Likewise, illegal immigrants aren't legally in the country and just doing illegal labor. They have to leave the country to comply, not change jobs.nafod wrote: I get his point. Supply and demand. The jobs were going wanting, the guys from across the border filled the demand, society was glad to have their lawns mowed, artichokes harvested, kids watched, quesadillas prepared. Are they illegal? Yes. So are the 1,000,000 drivers commuting to Chicago every day doing 20 over the speed limit on the highways. You would be accurate in referring to them all as illegal drivers if that was your wont.
I remember someone protesting the reduced speed limit there by getting cars lined up line abreast and actually doing the speed limit. It gridlocked the network.
That said, most of what I've seen does suggest your last line is correct. This is largely beneficial to the country. The laws should reflect this. It should not be the case that the gov't is ignoring its own laws and its responsibilities. Hopefully this would relieve the intense financial burden on the border states. Re: Q for the Republicans
Very simply, and like every other country in the world, if a foreign national is here illegally he or she has committed a serious crime. In the US it is actually a felony. Should all 12-30 million go home? That has to be the opening position, but i think it is worth offering worker visas for seasonal workers and conditional amnesty for those who register within 60 days, pass a background check, and understand they get no benefits. And if they commit a crime they go to jail and then home to their native country. And the golden enchilada, they NEVER get citizenship unless they go home and get in line like everybody else. Then we see if "keeping families together" or expanding the Democrat party is really what is the priority. Not holding my breath.Sua Sponte wrote:This analogy doesn't work.
