But, nothing to see here, move along. Besides, Trump called someone fat. Think of your daughters!
The Obama administration is moving to dismiss charges against an arms dealer it had accused of selling weapons that were destined for Libyan rebels.
Lawyers for the Justice Department on Monday filed a motion in federal court in Phoenix to drop the case against the arms dealer, an American named Marc Turi, whose lawyers also signed the motion....Turi was indicted in 2014 on four felony counts: two of arms dealing in violation of the Arms Export Control Act and two of lying to the State Department in official applications. The charges accused Turi of claiming that the weapons involved were destined for Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, when the arms were actually intended to reach Libya.
Turi’s lawyers argued that the shipments were part of a U.S. government-authorized effort to arm Libyan rebels.
It’s unclear if any of the weapons made it to Libya, and there’s no evidence linking weapons provided by the U.S. government to the Benghazi attacks.
“The proposal did not result in an actual transfer of defense articles to Libya,” the State Department official told POLITICO on Tuesday.
But questions about U.S. efforts to arm Libyan rebels have been mounting, since weapons have reportedly made their way from Libya to Syria, where a civil war is raging between the Syrian Government and ISIL-aligned fighters.

we've been flooding the the mideast, asia, and south america with weapons for untold years. they start out in the hands of people we think are our friends and end up in god knows whose hands. (can you say iran-contra)

I wasn't implying that it was right or wrong, just noting one reason why details weren't pursued. Too much embarrassment to the administration and, perhaps, legitimate national security concerns.dead man walking wrote:c'mon donkey--DrDonkeyLove wrote:Well.....it looks like we're getting towards the bottom of Benghazi which involved arms and Libya rebels per Politico.

Interesting. What makes you think that Trump would elect federal judges that align to your wishes? He has told the truth about a single thing on over a year and maintains that everything is negotiable. Trump also maintains that he'd blow Libyan aircraft out of the air for flipping the bird to an American ship. That might piss some people off, although not more people than withdrawing from NATO to please Putin.johno wrote:To be superior to Hillary and to earn my vote, Trump has to: 1) nominate federal judges who think the C means something; and 2) be less likely to start WWIII than Hillary.
I'm about 66% on the above.
What I'm getting at is you hope these things for Trump and yet he as offered not one iota of evidence that he will act in accordance. Seems at odds with otherwise intelligent people.

You're arguing a possibility causes more pain than a certainty. In nominating Trump, the GOP has asked the people of the US to entrust their future to a man who insults women, mocks the handicapped, coddles white supremacy, urges dissent be met with violence, seeks to impose religious tests for entry into the US, and applies a de facto ethnicity test to judges.johno wrote:LOL, given Hillary's likely choices for the Supreme Court. "If China ever did that, and we cut off relationship with China, China would go bust so fast," said Trump.

I confess that his enthusiasm for stop & frisk makes me uncomfortable. I don't know exactly how the NYPD determined why someone should be stopped and frisked but there needs to be a real reason for it beyond just being a punk on the street. I love his commitment to the 2nd amendment but would like to see a little love for the 4th as well.
