The Revenant
Gilbert Grape goes camping. fuck yeah!
Good not great movie. Almost great. About 20 minutes too long, but some incredible scenes and acting. Tom Hardy is great as the bad guy, and the guy who played Weasley in the Harry Potter movies is on a roll in his third great acting role this year. Leonardo will get an Oscar nom. The grizzly bear will get supporting actor nom.

It's not rape. Leo was wearing provocative clothing.

Concur, good movie, great scenery. But leo doesn't do a lot of acting, just a a lot of crawling and mumbling. The Bear qualifies for IGx membership.

Re: The Revenant
Finally saw this. Glad I waited for it to come out on cable and didn't pay to see it in the theater. Not glad that I wasted 2 1/2 hours watching this crap. I wish the bear had killed him. Could've cut 2 hours off this snorefest. I only stuck with it because the opening battle scene and then the bear attack were good. I agree with PL54 about the crawling and mumbling. Must've been a weak year or some kind of sympathy vote for him to get the oscar for this.
The scenery was the real star but too much of a good thing.

Miraculous how Leonardo's broken leg healed.
***
Also, loved the ending, where Leonardo avoided the moral stain of killing the dude by letting him float 25 feet downriver into Indian hands.

Re: The Revenant
So Mrs. Shape and I watched this Saturday. And anyway she was totally fucking pissed at me about it. She doesn't really cuss too much but within about 15 minutes she says, "what the fuck is this shit we're watching?!?" And I'm all like, "baby this is the movie that Leonardo got the Oscar for!!" We watched it all and I tried to tell her we needed to watch it again 'cause we might have missed something. Wasn't received well. I agree, this was a sympathy Oscar for him.

Re: The Revenant
It wasn't much of a movie.
