You think this is the first election where the GOP has lost young people, minorities and women?
Here's who the GOP wins since Bill Clinton: aged white Christians who identify as conservative. That used to be an important enough group to carry the day - now it's not.
More frighteningly for the GOP, that's not the case. Bush 2000 had very good numbers with Asians and Muslims. Not any more.
2004 is the election I'm referring to when the GOP legitimately won an election - no one can disagree that Dubya won a majority that time. He did it with ~40% of the Asian and Latino vote - not a majority of them but enough to offset the waning value of white males. Unfortunately, even that kind of number won't be enough in the future.
Muslims, ironically, would be the perfect constituency for the GOP if it wasn't hellbent on villainizing them. How much difference is there, truly, in a conservative Muslim family and an evangelical family in terms of policy?
donald continue to display a limited grasp of representative democracy:
"Just thinking to myself right now, we should just cancel the election and just give it to Trump," the Republican presidential nominee said during a rally here on Thursday.

That argument is ridiculous. Any other candidate (except maybe Cruz) would be looking at an easy victory while maintaining majorities in both houses.
Are you basing this on the one time a Republican won a national election since Windows 3.1 came out?
Demographically, the GOP is fucked, until they can figure out how to win minorities and young people. Kasich, et al., much like Pence, had a veneer of respectability and sanity because they were standing next to people like Cruz and Trump.
Could the GOP put up a candidate who could win? Yeah, sure, but such a candidate will never make it through the GOP primaries because he'd have to not be batshit insane.
You're making a lot of out of one election cycle.
are you sure?
romney had to rely on his magic underwear to win the nomination
And Hillary barely beat a milquetoast disorganized Sanders.
Not true. HRC beat him by 880+ delegates and 12 points overall. In any other context that would be called a landslide. Also, Sanders didn't drop out which gives the impression it was closer. IMO, Sanders won with his effect on the platform and he'll be the Budget Chairman when HRC wins.
She used super delegates very effectively, something the Sanders campaign complained about consistently.

The GOP's strong recent history of winning gubernatorial races seems to fly in the face of that.

Oh, wow, March 2016 - when Hillary was fighting off the Bernie insurgency that has (predictably and in this instance, correctly) lined up behind her.
Fly in the face of what?
Non-Presidential elections are older and whiter than Presidential-year elections. This inherently - for now - favors Republicans.
Democratic hacks will never admit this, but I suspect they're okay with this - off-year GOP wins while protecting the national party, not a terrible trade. After Hillary wins, you're looking at 20 of 28 years of federal judicial appointments coming from the Democrats and a 5-4/6-3 Supreme Court. You think all the bullshit the GOP has pulled with voter suppression and gerrymandering to hold supermajorities in states where they should at best have a majority will fly? Not a fuckin' chance.
The GOP's hold on lower level offices will be broken down bit by bit over the next decade.

Yeah, except that he did.
A bigger question is why did the Grand Wizard of the KKK endorse Hilliary?

Perhaps because the KKK was started by Democrats(Nathan Bedford Forest) because those damn Republicans and Lincoln freed the darkies.
And they continue in the Democrat party until today. Can you say Robert F Byrd?
But lets not let facts get in the way of a good rant.
Serious question - when nutballs run with this, do they really believe it (pretending that the last 50 years of political history never happened) or is just a reflexive defensiveness?
If you're legitimately unaware of how party ideology and support has shifted since 1964 (LBJ signing the VRA and CRA) and 68 (Nixon's implementation of the Southern Strategy, bargaining with racist former Democrats), I can recommend a few books. They won't even be difficult, this is sophomore-level political history at best.
Same question with stuff like the KKK endorsement - do you really believe it? On a psychological level, I like to explore levels of delusion among the populace? Helps me judge when it's time to escape to Europe.

That's cute. You realize that progressives have been saying this since at least 1968 right? Probably since 1900 actually.

I think you think this means something... but it doesn't. This is a series of words stripped of content while still technically fulfilling the function of a few sentences.

You're picking the weirdest time to make this post. The FBI has said they literally don't know anything about the latest emails, and haven't read them, and they only just got a warrant yesterday.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
The Clintonistas have always been smooth operators and congenital liars.
But idiots are more careful than this.
The whole "use a private server to keep emails to myself" never made sense, since they are EMAILS that get sent to lots of people across the internets. Never attribute to smoothness what stupidity can explain. Senior citizens should not be allowed electronic devices.
Those emails will be echoing around the internet for as long as there is an internet. Via wireless, they are on their way to Alpha Centauri as I type.
They live in a mess of their own creation, for sure.
They should have saved the chowhound Miss Universe a few more weeks. This will be a bloody week.
I'm hoping for the mother-grope to come forward. It's only fair.
