Economic data is useful for economists and journalists to masturbate over, but it does not reflect the reality on the ground. According to the economic data Australia is in recession right now, and I have never seen this place so alive since 2004 when I moved here.

Wealth is not income. 35% of Russian household wealth is controlled by ~100 people.

End of Cold War predates the digital economy which we dominate by an insane margin, creating 41% of worlds billionaires. We're followed by Asian countries that aren't Russia. Russia doesn't even dominate non-white countries any more, which for racists has to burn a bit.

Russia was a super power. Now the best you could say is maybe they're top 5, but everybody's broke except for a few rich people who make Saudis look classy.

The US is still an economic powerhouse. Not all the middle class wealth has been stripped away. Russian women are just getting in on the looting. But Russia, despite being in a war with us, has been steadily improving and is healthier now than it was. We on the other hand, have been cratering and are just as inequitably arranged. We also, have gays, trannys, queers, furries and massive white male suicide.
