Very nice neighbor kid, three houses up, used to practice all year long in his back yard. I used to pick up a dozen lacrosse balls in our yard and give them back to him a couple times a year. He got a full ride at some college near Washington to play. It paid off for him.

Lacrosse is literally a religion where I live. The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Nation) travels the world with their own non-USA passports.

It's spreading like wildfire across the country and in some places it's not too hard for a kid that's good by local standards to get a free ride at a good school. In the NE and mid-Atlantic states if you started after 8 y.o. it's too late for you.

LAX is big around here. The neighborhoods team beats the shit out of the other teams they play on a regular basis.

Soccer, both kids and co-rec adult leagues are fucking HUGE in Seattle. I have seen fist fights at public meeting about allocating field times. Nearly every programmed park field in the Sea Metro area has been converted to all season surfacing so it can be played on year round, in the spring/summer scheduled games start at 8Am and the shut the lights off at 11pm. Adult co-rec and kids Select plays all winter

I wish I liked it, it's so fuckin huge.

I like it that adults playing soccer have a slightly higher injury rate than adults doing Crossfit

And I especially love how soccer fucks with kids...concussions and non contact foot, ankle, knee, and hip injuries.

I know one little girl who went to every specialist in Houston to look at her foot and ankle before they found a broken bone that had to be surgically repaired...took over a year and she was in pain the entire time...and would play soccer, get worse, heal up, play soccer, get worse, heal up...etc

In Texas, soccer clubs play year round...so, you want a spot on Fatty McFuckwit's Diamond Platinum Cuntball team, you pony up $4K every quarter.

My one serious sport injury was soccer at 13 or so. Got blindslided by a "slide tackle" landed on shoulder and clavicle was in three pieces and trying to break the skin. I'd stopped gymnastics because I didn't want to risk an off season injury for my primary sport, but figured soccer would be fine. Oops.

Many times we'd settle in at 10 PM at the fire station, ready for some nice Friday night bar fights & OD's, and what would get dispatched to? Broken ankle/leg/knee at the soccer field.

That's Seattle....If you were in my neighborhood, you could get called to the field for both an OD and a broken Amazon Worker ankle

Lacrosse is a spring sport here. It's French for "can't hit a fastball."

I played indoor soccer up until this year at a sports complex where they would have adult Lacrosse. Where the fuck did all these people come from? They never played when i was growing up.

Club soccer at 4k is the biggest waste of money there is. Great idea, pay 4k to not have a life. Better off investing in music lessons.

Finally quit this year. Getting too nicked up. Pulled calf, hamstring, kicked in the ribs, toe stepped on. It was always after about 15 games the injuries would start.

i've seen a guy blow out his ACL. Always worried my Achilles would go, but it never happened, thank God.

10 years coaching soccer. 1 compound fracture of the leg. 4 separated shoulders. 3 concussions. the rest were nothing bad. few stitches, broken fingers, hurt egos. tons of ice pack bought and used
10 coaching baseball injuries.
10 coaching basketball injuries.

soccer and baseball were year round. I had a group of mothers who only let their kids play soccer because it is safe. They all are relatively safe. It is not like they are boxing, bullfighting, or racecar driving.

I told my parents to invest their money in tutoring.

My son had been playing lax for 8 years. It's by far the best sport to watch

Played for about 4 months on a ship's intramural team at NAS Norfolk back in the 80s. They needed some mass.

Grabbing a couple of sticks (or whatever they are called) and just tossing the ball back and forth while running around the park is good clean fun.

i despise people that abbreviate lacross to LAX

I can't stand soccer. LAX would be tolerable, I suppose, but I can't say I've ever watched a full game and a good friend of mine is a HS LAX couch for one of the Twin Cities top HS teams. My son is in basketball right now and I think I hate that more than soccer.

Lacrosse race is more human than soccer race.
