Comedy Bang Bang for comedians and actors doing long form improv (comedians come on and are interviewed as themselves and sometimes play a character, which is when the improv kicks in. Andy Daly kills when ever he's on. Jessica St Clair is great. Paul F Tompkins is prolific and usually reliable. It gets better as you listen to it, because there are recurring characters with inside jokes and callbacks. I pick and choose episodes based on which ones have the comedians I like.

The Fighter and The Kid. Comedian Bryan Callen and UFC heavyweight fighter Brendan Schaub. Very funny. Great chemistry.

WTF with mark maron. He is a pretty good interviewer and his guests usually open up to him.

I've started listening to this lately. Good stuff.

Memory Palace is worth listening to if you like This American Life.
Oxford Biography is interesting, depending on the subject, definitely recommended for history buffs and Anglophiles.
The Economist has good short podcasts (a little too short IMHO).

I second Hardcore History, but it's not to be taken on lightly. 15-30 hours over multiple podcasts on things like the kings of Persia and the cause of WWI.

He's probably an acquired taste, but I like the Jocko podcast a lot.

If you grew up listening to Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story, the Mike Rowe podcasts are quite similar.

US GAO Watchdog Report-- considering that it's an official government podcast, this is incredible. They're short too.
Sasquatch Syndicate-- interviews with people who've seen a sasquatch and other similar stuff. It's like long form Art Bell.

Just added 50 Things That Made the Modern Economy. They're short (9minutes), and cover a variety of things, like the iPhone, shipping container, bank, and Billy bookcase.
Outside Online just did a three part series called Cliffhanger about the Eastern Airlines 980 crash in Bolivia in 1985. And I found out about that from The Grey Nato, two watch guys talking about watches, diving, cars, and outdoor stuff.

1A has been excellent so far.
