Some of the best television no one has ever heard of...
I stumbled onto a little show on the Sundance Channel totally by accident and both Mrs. Shape and I believe it is a beautiful bit of work...a masterpiece of writing and acting that is so good you'll not be able to binge watch it. It's called "Rectify" and it's the Sundance Channel's first effort in scripted drama. It's primarily focused on a man who's released from death row after 19 for a murder he didn't commit...but not everyone is convinced of that. He goes back to his small town in Georgia and tries to become normal again. This isn't a redemption movie where he's stomping ass and getting revenge...he's just trying to come to an understanding of this new life. It is so good no matter how much cleaning you do in the house some dust is going to get in your eyes. I don't want to say too much about it up front. There's only four seasons and they just finished showing the last season on Sundance. The other three are on Netflix.

Is this where he's arrested two years later for murdering some woman at his house and he and his turdacious-intellect nephew are harassed and tried by a corrupt police dept?

Testiclawd, there's not one bit of wasted space in this series. I think it might actually be the first thing I've ever seen that I think is perfectly done. Every single character, every interaction beautifully constructed. I wonder how a writer feels about working on a show like this...nobody's watching it but it's still wonderfully done.

Excellent.
Those sequences with the black prisoner in the cell next to him were excruciatingly good. Had my wife sobbing. We were both asking ourselves, why are we watching this? Well, because it was great. The episode where he goes to Atlanta, sees the painting, talks to those ladies, and then go sees his friend's mother, is one of the best single episodes of anything I've ever watched on television.

That's awesome DMW.
This show has made me ponder a few things. In the episode I mentioned above and in some others he briefly and rather obliquely talks about how he had to develop a different perspective on the passage of time and how to deal with it. Imagine being in an environment where you never see the sun, moon, stars, daylight or darkness...you're completely and totally in an enclosed space with bright lights on continuously that are never shut off...how would you evolve to deal with that? Well, he talks about it...a little bit.
