County Coroner James F. Kelley said following an autopsy Monday Judith Permar, 56, of Mount Carmel, died from blunt force trauma but she also suffered hypothermia.
Permar's left arm became stuck with her feet off the ground when the step stool she was standing on collapsed, he said. It was her step stool, he said.
Her injuries included a broken arm and wrist, the coroner said.
It is believed Permar, who was described as short, went to the drop off box about 2 a.m. Sunday, Kelley said. She was discovered about 8:30 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Seem to me she was trying to get some free clothes? I mean, you open the box and drop shit in, there's no reason to stick your arm in

Upon reading, apparently the drop off boxes are high, so nix my previous speculation.

her family gets to sue the drop box manufacturer for flawed design, so shitty for her, but the cloud has a silver lining.

Two AM at a clothing bin with your arms stuck down in there kind of suggests clothing going the other direction.

Her pic on facebook/obit wasn't what I expected. Thought she would look like some homeless wino. Looks like a lonely stretch of road on the "outskirts" of Natalie. One article showed the little red box that did her in. Sad any way you look at it.nafod wrote:No, but article in nearby newspaper.DikTracy6000 wrote:Neighbor?nafod wrote:Woman dies after arm gets stuck in clothing drop-off box

Ouch.
I sort of picture Benji going out this way, honestly.

Bags filled with clothes and shoes littered the ground and her Hummer was parked nearby with the engine still running, he said.
The police had received reports in November of a woman with a black Hummer who was removing bags from the bin, he added.

In this ladies favor, a huge number of these drop off boxes are for profit...where they collect crap people don't want then ship enmass to somewhere they can sell it. Maybe she was grabbing this shit out of the for profit boxes, and taking it to local charities, who have taken a hit due to them.

The stuff you put in drop boxes doesn't go to charities. Nobody wants to wear your nasty, discarded shit especially after it's been moldering in your local homeless Hilton. It goes to a processing plant where the stuff is weighed. The plant pays the charity a small fee based on weight. Items get sorted with a particular eye out for denim. The stuff is baled and then shipped overseas where it is recycled. THey've got a ton of uses for it including ending up in the seat cushions of your BMW or Mercedes. I had to do an inspection a few years ago at the charity box king of Brooklyn.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:In this ladies favor, a huge number of these drop off boxes are for profit...where they collect crap people don't want then ship enmass to somewhere they can sell it. So that's how kids in Darfur get their Levi's and "Steubenville 5K Fun Run" tee-shirts. I never would've thought!
