This was also a spear-phishing attack against users with Gmail accounts/clients, IIRC. Servers weren't particularly relevant.

GS: It wasn't just that they wouldn't let them look at the server. The DNC refused to let ANY federal agency even begin to investigate or look into anything. Weird.
It's almost like the DNC was completely uninterested in what they're now claiming was a massive breach of our election.Jeh Johnson, who served as homeland security secretary under President Obama, told the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence last month that his department offered to assist the DNC during the campaign to determine what was happening, but Mr. Johnson said he was rebuffed.
“The DNC,” Mr. Johnson said at the time, “did not feel it needed DHS’ assistance at that time. I was anxious to know whether or not our folks were in there, and the response I got was the FBI had spoken to them, they don’t want our help, they have CrowdStrike.”
In January, Mr. Comey told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that the FBI issued “multiple requests at different levels” to assist the DNC with a cyberforensic analysis. Those requests were also denied.

You're suggesting the DNC is involved in some kind of coverup. They could have their server data subpoenaed by the FBI, or committees in the GOP-controlled House or Senate. Nobody has done so, suggesting whatever you are reading may lack basis in fact.

Re: Trumpling the Russia Investigation
http://www.thestate.com/opinion/op-ed/a ... 15077.htmlRussia's election meddling has boxed Trump in to this aggressive stance for the foreseeable future. Trump's best defense against charges of collusion with Russia is: Look at my policies. There has been no president this tough on Moscow since Ronald Reagan. Even if Trump wanted to pursue detente with Russia, he cannot, because any concessions to Putin will be seen through the prism of the Russia investigation. Every step taken that benefits Moscow will cost him politically at home, while tough stances will insulate him from accusations that he is Putin's puppet.
Third, Russia's election meddling has achieved something no Russian leader has previously been able to do: It has turned Democrats into modern-day Cold Warriors. In 2012, after Mitt Romney called Russia our No. 1 geopolitical foe, Democrats cheered Barack Obama for mocking him by saying, "The 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back." Today, five years later, Democrats are suddenly channeling their inner Reagan.
It's ironic. During the Cold War, when the Kremlin was throwing people into the gulag and threatening the United States with nuclear annihilation, many Democrats were all for accommodating Moscow. They opposed the Reagan defense buildup, the Strategic Defense Initiative and aid to anti-Soviet freedom fighters and chafed when Reagan declared the Soviet Union an "Evil Empire."
But the Kremlin finally crossed a line when it messed with Hillary Clinton's campaign. None of this is what Putin was hoping for when he decided to interfere in the 2016 election.
Way to go Vlad!

If anything, Putin wanted Hillary to win since she OPPOSED the Magnitsky Act, which was tying up all the oligarchs' money.

According to Comey the FBI requested access to the server multiple times but was denied by the DNC. The denial itself is the flashing amber caution light.Grandpa's Spells wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2017 3:24 am You're suggesting the DNC is involved in some kind of coverup. The "Russian" hack with Trump's accused collusion was so very serious that terms like "act of war", "treason", and "death penalty" were bandied about by elected officials and pundits considered respectable.
Such a grave threat to the foundations or our democracy and the DNC denied the FBI access to the servers. Why the denial?
The DNC does not want the FBI to have access to that computer for good reasons. What might those reasons be? Considering the DWS/Clinton anti-Bernie cabal and DWS' dealing with shady Pakistani IT criminals in her employ, there could be evidence of criminal activity on that server from multiple directions that aren't limited to DNC crimes.
It's as worthy of investigation as Donny Jr's. short meeting with a Russian attorney.

I get the impression Trump supporters and Republicans secretly wish Hillary had won so they could spend four years trying to impeach her. Old habits die hard.
Here is why the Trump stuff is more important than the Hillary stuff by a factor of a few thousand.
Trump is president, the most powerful decider on the planet. Hillary will be a footnote in history books 40 years hence.
Much like how the Whitewater investigation resulted in charges having nothing to do with Whitewater, I expect Trump's financial crimes will be unveiled by investigators and will show themselves. But those crimes will involve Russians. It will be as if Monica was also a real estate agent for Whitewater.
Don’t believe everything you think.

Well, us of course, but this isn't just any investigation; it's a foreign attack on our democracy! Surely the patriots at the DNC could find a way to acquiesce to the multiple requests of the good professionals at the FBI while protecting their confidential information. Maybe Crowdstrike's work answer's every conceivable question about how the DNC's documents got out. Does it categorically rule out out staffer downloads or mischief caused by DWS's Paki criminals or Red Army unit 6138?Yes I Have Balls wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2017 5:23 pmComey testified under oath that the forensic data the FBI got from Crowdstrike regarding the hack of the DNC server was perfectly fine. Just a quick reminder-- Hillary's pretty much out of public life, DWS is out as DNC chair (in disgrace), and Uncle Bernie's wife's course in Maduro-nomics at Burlington College worked they way it always works (except she forgot to control the judiciary and is facing criminal charges). Not exactly resumes of rising stars anymore.

Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.

pressure on the president of VEB, Sergey Gorkov, to find sources of international rescue capital.
Notably, it was Gorkov who met secretly with Jared Kushner in December at Trump Tower.
Kushner's failure to report the meeting with Gorkov. . .

Re: Trumpling the Russia Investigation
https://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles ... pgtype=hpgRussian dollar-denominated GDP peaked in 2013 at slightly more than $2 trillion and has now dropped to about $1.2 trillion thanks to cratering oil prices and ruble exchange rates. To be sure, the contraction measured in purchasing power parity has been far less dramatic. But in comparative dollar-denominated terms, Russia's economy amounts to a mere 1.5 percent of global GDP and is just one-15th the size of the U.S. economy. Russia also suffers the dubious distinction of being the most corrupt developed country in the world, and its resource-extracting, rent-seeking economic system has reached a dead end.
