Surviving Vegas-type situation
What's the best thing to do if you're in that situation - you hear gun shots, they're scattered, people falling everywhere, you have no idea where shots are coming from, you're wide open. What do you do to maximize odds of living - run, crawl, curl up in a ball and stay put?

Run to cover
Make yourself small
Both presume you know where the shooting is coming from

For whatever reason you may find the need to exit a mall immediately whether it be terrorism, a shooter, a flash mob, or anything else where you don't want to get funneled into the main exits with everyone else, there are alternatives.
Most stores receive their product deliveries from corridors behind the stores. In an emergency you can run through a store and out their back door. The downside is you may lose your orientation because it can be a maze in a big mall, but it's an available option in a serious situation.

I carry, along with my three survival knives, a pocketful of flash-bangs. Good for active shooter incidents and for running into your mistress while with the wife.
Don’t believe everything you think.

I don't know, but it seemed the guy was trying to hurt as many people as he could. Therefore he was shooting into the crowd. Flock shooting. One solution would have been to separate yourself from the crowd.
Would I have figured that out when it was happening? Not likely.
But now it will be on my mind.
