Arrival
Extremely good. Based on a sci fi short story you should not read first.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

I went to it last night. Really liked it. It was a good alien movie for a date night.

I agree. It's an excellent movie. My wife, who typically hates science fiction, also really liked it.

Re: Arrival
All right. We will go see Sing instead. hearing mixed reviews on that as well, but if its not as bad as "into the woods", we'll survive. (We go to the movies on New Year's Eve.)

The unmooring of an individual in time eliminates the concept of free will. There is no freedom, the path is set in stone

Shit, Niggah. That assumes a single timeline for the universe. It may be branching continuously, and in another parallel universe she does not do exactly the same.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:The unmooring of an individual in time eliminates the concept of free will. Or the glimpses into the future may just be constraints, like tying down two ends of a rope. Infinite possibilities for how the rope lies between those points.
Here, I'll spooge a more complete answer.
