Banshee
Season 2 of Banshee starts Friday. Nothing like violence and nudity to start the weekend.

Re: Banshee
Seriously? With all the other crap being reviewed, nobody's watching this? He's already banged the Indian chick and looks like he's going for the deputy chick. How many other shows are there where the main character bangs ALL the females with the exception of his daughter.

I never even heard of this? What network? what time?

Darf, it's on Skinemax, 10 pm on Fridays.
I hadn't seen this review before just now, but I love this show.
It's ridiculous, and awesome, and there's so many naked chicks it boggles my nuts.

Re: Banshee
Never heard of it until now. I'll give it a shot based on CC's endorsement.
Re: Banshee
Last episode's neverending fight at the casino was awesome. Banshee > Justified.

They're not the same thing and not worth comparing.SubClaw wrote:Last episode's neverending fight at the casino was awesome. Banshee > Justified.
I swear... you Europeans make no sense sometimes. I'm guessing it's an issue relating to confusion about your gender identity or something.

I just watched the pilot episode, and you guys certainly didn't oversell it.
Although the whole time the comparison running through my mind was "this is like Roadhouse meets Blazing Saddles."

Re: Banshee
Watched the first season and now don't have Cinemax. I am considering coughing up the coin so I can continue watching unless someone can direct me to the free line.

Re: Banshee
This was entertaining for sure, but nowhere near the caliber of writing you find on Justifed! at least on the few episodes I watch. It does deliver the soft core porn though.
Re: Banshee
Amish mafia, cool fight scenes, plenty of fuckable chicks, a few full frontal nudes and neverending senseless violence. I love this show!Shafpocalypse Now wrote:This was entertaining for sure, but nowhere near the caliber of writing you find on Justifed! at least on the few episodes I watch. Banshee, Sons of Anarchy and Justified are kinda the same show in a broad sense.
If I wanted to watch something really, really, really well written I'd choose The Shield, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Wire (this one is a masterpiece), True Detective (so far I'm loving it), Band of Brothers or Rubicon (it was fucking cancelled)...

I like the show, don't get me wrong.
I'm on S1E6 or so, and what I like best is everyone is a fucking ELEET fighter.

Re: Banshee
Edited to remove spoilers. I've saved my comments and will give those who DVR it a chance to watch. But a decent episode that was more of set up for what's to come while still maintaining an above average level of violence and a taste of nudity (which I hope was also a tease for more down the road from this chick.)

First season was reviewed on here, and that season was great. Gotta love it when a reformed Amish guy is the Number One criminal badass and his smoking hot Amish niece is banging the sheriff who really is impersonating a dead guy.

Re: Banshee
So.
You like Banshee if you like
1. Ludicrious violence and fight scenes (the fight scene between the Ukrainian and the chick was hilarious)
2. Softcore porn with little tittied actresses.
I find a nice glass of whiskey or scotch helps with my suspension of disbelief.

Re: Banshee
Now that you mention it, it seems like all the sex scenes on Skinemax, HBO, etc. are with small to medium busted women. The girls with big cans are always working the pole or lap dancing in the strip clubs on the shows.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:So.

And Lucas Hood is like Timex, takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

They're all kinda the same show in a broad sense because they have male leads? they deal with organized crime? People get shot? They all have law men that break rules on the regular?

No, because they are medium quality entertainment: somewhat appealing male characters, fuckable chicks, mindless violence and half-assed writing, acting and directing.baffled wrote:They're all kinda the same show in a broad sense because they have male leads? they deal with organized crime? In the same broad sense, Breaking Bad, Rubicon and True Detective are the same show too: high quality productions, great story, even greater character development, amazing writing, acting, photography and directing.

Re: Banshee
Justified's writing is on par with the second list, IMO. Banshee is at the bottom of the list. Breaking Bad was good, but it wasn't the awesome fest people think it was...if it had a shitty actor, not Cranston in it, it would have fallen flat.

Re: Banshee
I have similar feelings about True Detective. Matt McConaughey makes the show. Can't see anyone else in that role. I don't see that Woody Harrelson brings anything special to the table. Hell, I think it might be better played by John Goodman. At least they wouldn't have to puff him up for the "present day" scenes.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:Justified's writing is on par with the second list, IMO. Banshee is at the bottom of the list. Banshee is just mindless fuck and fight entertainment and I like it.
