Very nice toy. Steve Cotter suggested one a while back. Nice for low back, abdominal, and oblique/quadratus work. Squatting BW on this engages the upper hams, I think, due to having to stay centered so you don't fall off. Kind of an incidental or accidental feature.
Doing any type of pressing and using it as a bench seems to engage my lats. I did KB bench presses and it fired up the whole upper body. You can place it on some benches and put one knee on it for one arm rows. Instability is a tool that can be taken WAY too far, like C&J on a Swiss ball. Total BS. I think the BOSU is a nice tool.
I will be trying some stick work standing on it to see how my weight transfers etc.
For lifters, try BW squats and do your DB benches on it.

The first time I heard of BOSU I was pretty unimpressed. Then I saw what Cotter could do with it and I pretty much changed my tune immediately. Something like that could be a dust collecting gimmick or an awesome tool, depending on how you use it. Have you used it with your clients yet Tom?

I was hot on it then quickly got bored with it. I took it to maxercise so Steve could play with it. He was rolling at the time. He jumped out to thank me and promptly did a pistol on it. I'm not convinced it can make you "better" at anything. I think it can make your ankles sronger (which Rif noted) and be good for some extra stuff. I barely have timeto do 30 minutes a day ....

Just standing on the BOSU for a few minutes with eyes closed is a great awareness drills. On one leg is better, but much more difficult obviously.
I've been doing the BW squats and ab work since I got it. Steve also had us do side to side plyometric pushups on it at one of his seminars, which was fun. Tried the KB bench presses on it and 1 arm rows with the support knee and arm on it last night. Felt great. I'm also going to try renegade rows with the support arm on the BOSU.
