Charlie Wilson's War
Pretty good flick overall. Paints the main characters as moralists, but does so with a very cynical eye. Nice history involved, and it blends with the modern day pretty well. Worth seeing, but would be just as good on DVD.

I saw it this weekend. Very funny movie. Three memorable characters. Given that the story is "based on" true events and that Wilson is still around, it gives some interesting takes on sex and power and the strange bedfellows of international intrigue. Also give some pause to think about what we're going through now.

A good bit of it. I was just curious how the two compared. A good follow up, bookwise, is Unholy Wars, by John Cooley. He was the Financial Times correspondent in the Pak/Afg. area during the time period.DEATHTURD wrote:No, but seeing the movie made me want to. Great book, I wish I still had it.
Tony Rudy gave it to me, he actually met Wilson when he was a jr. staffer for Tom Delay.
BTW the former SF officer (who's name escapes me) that was considered the architect of the way we advised the Muhj to fight, was in Jim Tirey's class for SF selection.
