Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, by David Allen. Allen's book is crammed fill with a highly prescriptive set of suggestions to organizing all the ideas, paper, e-mail and voicemail in your life and reducing them to a set of lists. Then for each idea or project, write down the next action step so that the idea or project doesn't seem unwieldy or too large or complex, and something to put off addressing. The idea is that once all the "stuff" banging around in your head is organized and on a list, and you've identified the next action to be action for all the stuff, then your mind is free to focus on the things you choose to prioritze and that fit the time windows you have available.
The book can seem overwhelming if you don't live this way. I actually use a similar approach and Allen's ideas helped me sharpen my system immensely. Highly recommended.

Re: Getting Things Done
You are a decade behind the times. Too much for most people. Most productivity nerds have moved on to simpler means of getting things done.

Re: Getting Things Done
My personal system is as comprehensive as the Getting Things Done system. The more comprehensive I am in keeping up, the stronger my productivity.
So if I'm a decade behind the time, what if any books do you recommend?
