They're smooth, the weights are right on the money, the grip is to me no different than the ones from dragondoor. The prices are excellent too-
the most expensive is the 32 for 80 bucks. It cost me 213 dollars to get them to Blackpool from the states via UPS.
I have a 20 kg and a 24 kg from http://www.kettlebells.co.uk and the ones from gill look a little bit different as you can see from the pictures of the two on the internet but the grip dia is exact or nearly so. I don't notice a difference anyway. I have two 16's from gill, the 24 is backordered. So far so good though.
I ordered a 24 kg from them. It was out of stock, but I'm supposed to get it around the end of this month. Shipping within the US is so cheap that I think they made a mistake.
I called Gill athletics today. Wanted to order a 1pood for my brother in law and a few bells for myself. I got a surly guy on the phone who told me I might get the bells in February, maybe March. Not only did he seem to be unsure about when they'd get here, he didn't seem to think it was much of a priority.
I just orders a 1pood cast bell from K2 for my brother and a USKB for myself.
30 bucks or so cheaper but with an open ended 6-10 week wait is not a good deal. Plus the K2 and USKB folks seek like good people to support.
everythingtrackandfield.com might have some of the gill bells in a few weeks. However, I may end up going with K2 anyway.
For those that have DD and Gill bells, the gill people told me that their handles are thick enough to make the difference noticeable if you have a bell in each hand. True?
