Well I went and saw it.
There's really no reason to see it. Except for Rosamund Pike's jugs. But you don't get to see them, just the cleavage and when she runs down a staircase, they bounce around.

Entertaining hard-boiled detective movie, and plot keeps you hooked. But Cruise is a lousy Reacher, and too many parts of the plot are hoky and confusing.

I saw this because my Grandson wanted to. I did not want to see Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher but think he did a very credible job. Cruise got producer credit and the guy knows how to make a solid movie.
Plot is OK. Rosamund Pike is very easy on the eyes. Pittsburgh looks great.
Wait for DVD or Netflix IMO.

The guy is batshit but he can fucking act and has made some good flicks.
He's even pulled off jobs that I thought he was totally wrong for.
I was real into Ann Rice boks when they did Interview with a Vampire into a flim and was against even seeing it.
I thought of all the known actors at the time Julian Sand looked the most like Rice described Lastat.
I thought there was no way Mr. Perfect Tetth Boy Next Door cou;d pull it off.
The woman I was with dragged me to see it and it was pretty fucking good and he nailed Lastat as he is in that book.
Someone should do The Vampire Lastat and redo Queen of the Damned.

I liked it for what it was. Good brain less action fun. I was pretty cynical about Cruise playing Reacher but he pulled it off.

It's been on cable, I watched it all the way once and have seen bits of it a few different times.
I think it's excellent. Really well put-together. The sniper opening scenes are very well done; the movie is very well directed. Lots of well-executed bits; like a car chase in the middle of it, American muscle car vs Euro car like an Audi or Beamer or something. Having watched a whole lot of Top Gear, the cars performed in the chase a lot like Jeremy& Richard & James have told us they would – irrationally, I found that a really convincing piece, it sold me on the entire movie. :-) The ultraviolence was nice, esp a hilarious scene where two retards try to kill Cruise, but they get in each other's way. The little local chippie who tries to get Cruise beat up, that actess was good.
I know nothing about the Jack Reacher of the books, but Cruise was ok. It reads very 1970s to me, like a Mack Bolan book or a Chuck Norris movie, in modern dress and with Tom Cruise. Rosamund Pike is a typical Chuck Norris female: professional and smart and has nice clothes, but ultimately helpless and a hostage. But the way the movie is shot really highlights Pike's strengths.
I'd see another movie directed by this guy. Excellently done.
