Kumare, on netflix
Guy invents a bullshit religion --- based on yoga --- with bullshit rituals and people buy it.
The guy is a very Americanized first generation Indian and is familiar with Hindu ritual. Thinks it's bullshit. So he dresses like an Indian guru and speaks in his grandmother's accent. Goes to Phoenix and gathers disciples.
But... then you sorta begin to like some of the seekers. They're sincere. And the guy has a hard time "unveiling" himself. Which, of course, he eventually does...
Surprisingly thoughtful and emotionally effective.

You don't know how many times in my life I have had to stop myself from starting a religion.

Yes, I suppose the triple is the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
But we really need to see Fatty's bullshit religion before we even think about bringing Shape into this.

Re: Kumare, on netflix
May I also add, that's a stupid question since you don't know any of the tenets which would make a sacrament or ritual necessary. Try to do better.

Re: Kumare, on netflix
Yes, start by trying to do better. Give me a broad philosophical or theological question; remember you are playing the part (however poorly) of a sensitive seeker, looking for Truth.seeahill wrote:Gotta start somewhere.Fat Cat wrote:May I also add, that's a stupid question since you don't know any of the tenets which would make a sacrament or ritual necessary. Re: Kumare, on netflix
OK. I am unhappy in my day to day life. I feel a void in soul, as if something is missing. How can your bullshit religion help me?

Re: Kumare, on netflix
You feel that way because there is a void in your life, the primary purpose of the soul is to be happy and we want that for you too. You are like a sick man, who doesn't know the origin of his disease. But, when the man is sick, what does the doctor do? He gives him medicine, makes him well, makes him happy. That is what we are offering, the happiness which you were meant to experience both in this life and the life to come.

Re: Kumare, on netflix
Wow! Just what I've been looking for. What do I have to do? Does your bullshit religion offer a path?

Re: Kumare, on netflix
Yes, there is a path, and there are many important questions--and answers--which are milestones along the path. But the path is not the most important thing; it's a means to an end. What end? To the Supreme. What is more important, the road, or the destination? The disease, or the cure? We are giving the straight path, as all the sages of times past agree, to the supreme destination.

Re: Kumare, on netflix
So all sages, past and present, agree. Why then do I need your bullshit religion?

Re: Kumare, on netflix
There is only one eternal religion, only one eternal Truth, only one Supreme.
