I'd have to agree. The aura of dread in "Prince Of Darkness" is palpable. It's the best thing Carpenter ever did. "In the Mouth Of Madness" runs a close 2nd, though, mostly on the strength of Sam Neil's performance.

"Mouth" is seriously fucked up and creepy and I especially like the ending, which indicts everyone in the audience for watching it.
The flesh is weak, and the smell of pussy is strong like a muthafucka.
