So you can avoid my website, in a nutshell-
Dave Chesser has a fundamental TRX-type device. Less expensive and solid.
Jeff Martone has written thus far, the best book on kettlebells. Except for @fit and the American Swing parts.
Steve Maxwell's "In a van, down by the river, AKA Backyard Gods", delivers. Cardio super circuit with minimal gear. The music KILLED me.[awful]
I still have to review four disks of Gray Cook. That's more tedious.

Thanks, Tom. The STX is something we're proud of. Now if I can just get the book and DVD done.
Martone's book is a killer. I'm half way through my own kettlebell book and Martone's is making me up my game. it's 300+ pages of movements and many corrections to likely errors. It's incredibly thorough but I see much of that being useful for trainers. i think the gen pop is likely to get pretty overwhelmed. The GS section was nothing but a bunch of pictures. it seemed really tacked on at the last minute. I expected some info on programming or how the techniques differed but that wasn't there.
So Martone significantly raised the bar with that book.

I've already started writing Amazon reviews for Shaf's eBook.

+1 for Chesser's STX...a very sturdy piece of equipment.

Glad you liked it, Vern! I had my biggest client at the time (130kg) suspend all her weight from one strap and try to jerk the hell out of it. I stuck both feet on the wall and put all my weight on one strap too, just to test it out. Factory said it was good to go but you have to check this stuff yourself.

Where does one buy the STX and how much is it please?

I'll be curious to see what about this.... I thought it had very few take away nuggets and turned into a 4 disc sales pitch. FWIW, I like and use his screen, but this set under delivered. you've seen the other DVDs of his so you'll take away more, but if you had no previous knowledge this would be a waste.TomFurman wrote:

Maybe I should write a review.
The wife is putting your DVD in the mail BTW.

Thanks BJ.
As per Gray. I'd love to sit and talk with him for hours since he is quite well versed and genuinely free with knowledge. However I think the FMS over complicates things. It's what Martin Berkhan refers to in the Sunk Cost thing, http://www.leangains.com/2011/12/like-water.html .
They get so invested in an idea emotionally and financially, that they can't let it go when they,
1. Find out it doesn't work
2. Realize it's just another tool in the box.
3. Attach morality [right vs wrong] to training versus logic/science.
This would also describe the HIT Jedi's to a "T".
It's odd since the battle lines were drawn between Z-Health and FMS. There are a few who straddle them.
Truthfully, there is more corrective knowledge on this forum. If you simply employ Jeff Martone's corrective drills which he handily wrote down and taught versus forgot,.. you can do lots of the FMS stuff without the voodoo. I mean Jeff is mid forties with two blown knees, two blown shoulders [over 30 dislocations] and a screwed up low back from a fall on concrete. It is impressive and didn't require FMS. He openly thanks Pavel for the irradiation and other drills he learned at the New Mexico Law Enforcement workshop in 1999.

w/ with regards to your point #1 "it doesn't work". I think you have to ask, "It doesn't work for what?" We use it simply to get a baseline of movement and we "design" a warm up strategy for gen pop folks. It works for that. What it doesn't work for is if the person truly has an underlying issue and can cheat the screen. Since it's not an assessment it never tells what the cause or culprit is, the avg trainers lack of anatomy doesn't help either, but a few assessment drills form Assess and Correct go along way.
My biggest gripe, yet I'll be the first to say "nice job" (from a business standpoint) is that there is not a single resource you can buy to get all the info you need. He does a "good job" of leading you through his sales funnel and maximizes the profit potential of each customer. I'm fortunate enough to have a wide enough network to "get" things I need, so I really should gripe.
BTW, thanks for using my RL name..... haha
PPS: Martone is a solid dude, got hang with him in Russian and again in MI. Funny as hell, too.

Re: Reviews: Dave Chesser, Jeff Martone and Steve Maxwell
Maxwell was in Denmark this weekend.
Despite what I've read about him on IGx he was a nice guy, to everyone of the 32 people.

To be fair, when I met him I hadn't just handed him a wad of cash.

I'm waiting for Burrito Jimmy's e-book.

Reading Martones book right now.One of the things I like about it is that it reminds me of things I have learnt but forgotten.
A lot of the drills will find their way into my warm ups etc.
The only thing I dislike about it is the crossfit references.
