Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I watched this again last night.
Unlike Avengers it doesn't hold up. I love Nolan and Bale but they need someone to hold the reins.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Jesus H. Christ! You fags are still talking about this last year shit? About a fucking Batman that quits twice, once because he's burnt out and can't handle being hated and then for some cunt, all while the best fucking superhero movie ever is out now?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
As much as I despise Anne Hathaway, her Catwoman was spot on.
As much as I like Tom Hardy, his Bane was fruitalicious.
The next relaunch will be interesting. The Burton/Schumacher films were fucked up, but I'd like to see the next series head back to the DC Universe with more similarity to the comics. The whole "oh look, Batman in the real world" thing was neat for a couple of films, but it had drug on by the third.
The best thing about the Nolan trilogy...no Robin (no counting the twist at the end of Rises).

I all ways thought Robin was created to give the fags something to wink about. He ruins most Batman stories for me except Killing Joke and the animated thing where he comes back as a criminal.

That's another reason why Killing Joke needs to be a fucking movie.DARTH wrote:Kazuya Mishima wrote:

I'd settle for it being an animated feature. Hamil has hinted he'd do the Joker again if they made it.Jay wrote:That's another reason why Killing Joke needs to be a fucking movie.DARTH wrote:Kazuya Mishima wrote:

The Batman catalog is deep-- there are a lot of good options in competent hands.

You're my bro, Kaz... but I take serious issue with you despising Anne Hathaway and liking the "formerly experimenting" Tom Hardy... what the fuck?

I'd like to see them not relaunch it and simply keep going where they left off.Kazuya Mishima wrote:The next relaunch will be interesting.

Well, that means Batman brunching in Paris for the rest of his days, and Robin running the show from the Bat Cave.Terry B. wrote:I'd like to see them not relaunch it and simply keep going where they left off.Kazuya Mishima wrote:The next relaunch will be interesting.

Maybe the plot of the next one is "You can't just lay down being BatMan" and some enemies kill Cat Bitch and make Bruce go back to his mission in life.
The whole idea tht Bat Man would retire like that is stupid. I always liked one angle of the first Keaton movie (well the novelization get more into it) Bat Man is a psychopath. He is mentally ill in some key ways and enjoys killing scum because of what happend to his parents.
He does not care if he dies, he just wants to hurt as much scum as he can before he goes.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
Dark Knight Returns, with no Superman and working Grayson in as Robin, would be a good part four.

What I know for sure is that playing Arkham City was greater than all the movies combined, and I'm beating off for The Arkham Origins release in October.

I always thought that was his appeal. Batman should be more like Punisher and less like inspector gadget which is where Hollywood always wants to take him.DARTH wrote:[

It is part of his appeal, but I see him as being more Sherlock Holmes than the Punisher.Blaidd Drwg wrote:I always thought that was his appeal. Batman should be more like Punisher and less like inspector gadget which is where Hollywood always wants to take him.DARTH wrote:[

In any case, the idea of Batman in retirement should only be the beginning of Batman story, as in The Dark Knight Returns. You can't retire from crazy.
I thought the last movie handled this well at the beginning. He had "quit" because he was torn up, but he became a depressed shut-in as a result because he's too crazy to enjoy being a billionaire. It's the happily ever after retirement at the end that was fucked up. Batman doesn't get the fairytale ending.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
The Nolan films certainly short changed the whole "World's Greatest Detective" angle. These latest movies were more about him being a super ninja with bleeding edge tech gadgets and firepower.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises
I thought they should have worked Robin in earlier and had the ending of 3 be the ending of 2.Kazuya Mishima wrote:Well, that means Batman brunching in Paris for the rest of his days, and Robin running the show from the Bat Cave.Terry B. wrote:I'd like to see them not relaunch it and simply keep going where they left off.Kazuya Mishima wrote:The next relaunch will be interesting.

In 3, you could do the same though Bane would end up killing Robin in some public fashion. leading to the real return of the Batman.

In The Dark Knight Returns he kills.
In the 1st Keaton film, the crooks are afraid of the Bat because their buddies have been thrown off of rooftops by him. The novelization got a bit more into it with him tossing a dude off a building.

Darth will be straight up jackin' to this...supposedly has a "darker tone" than the recent animated series stuff.
