There's also some interesting talk on the web about how OneEye was in North America as a kid and that's how he lost his eye. It was also said that he came from hell and the movie described the place as 'hell'. So OneEye knew the natives wouldn't kill the kid because they didn't kill him etc...

The first part while they were still in Europe was badass. As soon as they got on the boat it went to shit. Very slow and artsy, and then they took the entheogen trip and I stopped giving a fuck.

The beginning did set up a situation that promised ridiculous violence that it never fulfilled but what it ended up as is as distinct a film as there is out there (not counting experimental film).

Interesting director (Refn) - I've only seen part of Bronson, but Drive is similarly a remix - genre heist flick, equal parts Michael Mann and Walter Hill or Peckinpah.

No, that movie was ghetto as hell...typical 1970's drive-in movie. I don't remember much about seeing it, but I read later that it's considered one of the worst movies ever made. At one point they're rowing in their viking ship, and you can see an oil tanker in the background.

Until a realistic R rated "Going a Viking" movie is made I have this......
