Re: Savings and retirement

This thread is a gold mine. Thank you. Just got word that our current home appraised for $20k less than we bought it, so that's a bit of a hit and certainly makes selling or refinancing a pain. Oh well. In the debt, I'm paying more than minimum and the wife is 5 years from hitting the mark for writi...

Savings and retirement

Alright, curious what kind of advices you fine folks have on this subject. Book recommendations are welcome as well. Wife and I are in our early 30's. We currently have a mortgage and some college debt, but that's it. We are looking at a move sometime in the near future for career growth and for bet...

It's like he's writing my life story, only with more video games and way less drugs.

Injected with a mix my wife makes and left to sit overnight in the fridge. Wake up, bake for 4-5 hrs @ 300, enjoy. Turned out pretty damn moist and delicious.

Here's to a well-lived life. If you are well-remembered by those that matter, then you did something important. That's the kind of immortality you can't beat.

Re: Hobbies and such

I've started to look a little into this. Have a feeling local PD would freak the fuck out if there were a bunch of knives out in the open, even behind a table. I would bet you dollars to donuts you'd find an advocate within the Municipality to make sure that doesn't happen. Local PD work fairly clo...

Re: Kali Fitness by Lonely Dog

To be honest, MA guys succeed despite their fitness regimes more often than the succeed because of them. You are fully aware of this. The two big sins are too much specificity and too much guru ball tonguing. Word. Yep. I've tried to talk some sense occasionally to the guys at our gym but it never ...

Re: Hobbies and such

I sharpen. Pretty much everything, though I do a lot of kitchen knives lately. A few years back, I'd picked up a ZT after recommendations I got from here. Around that time I'd realized that my knives just sort of sat there and got replaced once they'd gone dull for whatever reason. I figured if I'd...

While I know that fitness tends to be the common denominator here, I was curious if any of you assholes had any other hobbies besides working out and reminiscing about your golden days here? I know some of you fags are probably all into things like macramé, scrapbooking, and tea set collecting. Mys...

Re: Might be car shopping. Thoughts?

Definitely. The backseat has certainly gotten smaller with the car seat sitting back there. I have a 15-year-old BMW 3-series, and the back seat is so small that my daughter's car seat only fits in the middle. I think about replacing the car on the grounds that it doesn't have enough room. But then...

Re: Might be car shopping. Thoughts?

I will go with the likely, unpopular move of sign and drive lease. Hyundai and KIA are killing it and as long as you can deal with a 4 banger, you're in good shape, for cheap. Now to be clear, we own our Santa Fe (loaded and the last year of the V6) and will never 'buy' one of their smaller engine ...

Re: Might be car shopping. Thoughts?

So you have a problem buying an American car from an American car company is what im hearing. Why not look at the new Buick that's made in China? Don't know if it's meant towards me, but not at all. I actually like the look of the Surbabans but for the same price the Subaru will have a decent bit l...

As many of you know we had a kid last year. Yeah, suddenly rear-set room makes a difference. Kids have short legs but car seats are yuge. Tahoe Suburban How many miles a year do you drive? I knew a guy who had a V-8 gigantic SUV for his commuter, and I thought he was nuts. Turns out his commute is ...

Re: Might be car shopping. Thoughts?

Bought a used 03 Forester with 140k myself last month and like it. They have towing capacity for a light trailer. Why not get a gas can on wheels as a commuter? You can usually get an old Escort (or something similar) for cheap off of Craigslist. I have thought about doing just that but don't reall...

Might be car shopping. Thoughts?

As many of you know we had a kid last year. I have been driving a 2004 crew cab Colorado with about 160K miles on it. It has had some issues in terms of electrical and some cylinder misfires but all in all its been a great truck but we are feeling the pinch in terms of size constraints when we do an...
