The Stand - new series
I’m only on the second episode so far, watchable but would be a hell of a lot better if kept to the actual book order instead of a bunch of flashbacks.

Re: Titan Safety Squat Bar v2
Yep, from cluster fitness NZ. Took 14 weeks to arrive as they order a container once a month from China. There’s a few options for buffalo style bars in Aus, the Goliath one is really good If they get back in stock. The cluster I think is a the same as Titan Yukon, knurling is pretty soft, and rings...

Re: Titan Safety Squat Bar v2
I’ve just received mine, the Titan V2 is a Chinese copy of the EliteFTS yoke bar. Got mine from Cluster Fitness NZ, Verve in Australia also sell one of same design. Good padding, handles good length. Fat cat, one of the good things about a SSB is can squat heavy without shoulder pain that can happen...

The Fever by Deon Meyer
South African guy who writes in Afrikaans, and translated to English
Picked it up based on cover recommendation from Stephen King that it’s like The Stand
If you like the Stand and the Road by Cormac McCarthy well worth a read

Re: Wedding rings and training
I lost my wedding ring a couple of years ago after about 7 years marriage, had switched to a chain around neck pretty quickly after wedding, and used to take that off before training and when got home from work. The ring with chain either accidently fell into rubbish bin which was next to kitchen be...

I live in Perth and sharks are all over the news with the amount of attacks in the last year. but it won't stop me going swimming at the beach, as there has never been a swimmer eaten at a patrolled beach during the day Generally its: Surfers around the corner from a seal colony Surfers at beaches w...

Re: Amazon's Kindle ebook device
picked up a Kindle last week. I've wanted one for a while but held off because previously Kindles in Australia have been uneconomical because of both limited selection and amazon charging extra for purchasing from Australia. There are ways to get around this and use the US selection but all were too...

Re: The couch thread
it's pretty sad when a 500lb deadlift takes up all the room on the bar and you need to tie the plates on to fit.
Obviously his gym wasn't expecting to develop any strong lifters as 500 should really only be an opener at best for
a guy his size. The oversize bumbers are just an ego trip

The Pyjama Game - A journey into Judo - Mark Law
I'm half way through this, but highly recommended, I did Judo for a couple of years over 20 years ago but even for those with no background in the sport/art it's a great book. The guy is a journalist who took up Judo at 50 after no having any sporting background covers origins, some biographical stu...

Re: Woll frying pan
no need to season the Woll.
Turn the gas up high, pour some olive oil in, crack 4 eggs in, fry both side, and slide onto plate of toast and cheese
impossible to burn the oil or burn the eggs, no special cleaning required. No seasoning.
No idea what cornbread is, must be some hick yank thing

Woll frying pan
I've had this for about 6 weeks now after replacing the last pan which the non-stick coating bit the dust. By far the best frying pan I've used. It's not coated so the non-stick can't be worn off. Great for both eggs and steak. steak tends to stick slightly but the pan is easily cleaned, eggs with a...

Re: Metallica- Death Magnetic
the lyrics are absolute rubbish. There's certainly no Sanitarium, Puppets, One, or Nothing else matters on this record
But guitar work and drums are excellent. I bought this the same day I threw Load(ofshit) in the bin, that was the last Metallica album i bought.

Re: The couch thread
what no one else seems to have noticed is that BOTO is 6 foot tall.
If he chooses to be stick thin you can't use the excuse that the lifts are not bad for a 175pounder.
At 6 foot you should be at least 90kg/200lbs unless you're a high jumper or distance runner

Re: The couch thread
Brandon, your CV just demonstrates that crossfit makes you mediocre at everything and good at nothing. none of your lifts are good enough for your height, your run times are pretty slow, and your rower times are possibly approaching average. Your snatch is good form with a light weight. I've got no ...
