Re: The Sopranos
Wife was recently watching one of her police/court room shows, not sure what it was, and Tony's nephew Christopher was a guest star. He's a frkng old man now. Very sad. Sopranos is in my top five of all time best shows.

Re: Happy Father's Day!
I'm a little late on this and seldom here. My dad grew up in the mountains of rural Virginia, in a poor family. His dad went to prison for a year or two for being a shine runner, meaning he drove the delivery car like ol' Jessie Duke. My dad and siblings and Grandma lived off their meager farm and r...

Re: Character Strengths
So, I took this survey last week: https://www.viacharacter.org It told me, among other things, that I scored very low on bravery. I thought about it, and figured I should pay attention to moments where I want to say something, but wimp out. ---- This week, I had a new personal training client, who,...

Re: Q Anon is a New American Religion
I thought the Q had gone away last year, or thereabouts. We have a crazy guy on another forum I'm on, that's always dropping ambiguous Q-isms about the impending destruction of whomever he thinks is destroying the country. Always has some nebulous date(s) when the next shoe will drop, it hasn't ever...

Re: Would someone explain why the stock market is soaring when we are facing a devasting depression
I come here to get all my serious economic questions answered. Hi Tim, Let me take a shot at this. Okay, "here's the deal". The stock market is a leading indicator of the economy. Stock analysts talk about lagging indicators, well the economy is a lagging indicator of the market. Let me g...

It's an awesome movie. It's been impossible to find on DVD for a while. I have not seen this movie but if this part of history interests you, the History On Fire podcast with Daniele Bolelli titled The Conquest Of Mexico (episodes 20-23 from 2017) is amazing. What happened when Cortez got to Mexico...

Re: It's a Wonderful Life
This movie sucked. It's only considered a classic since no one bothered to renew the copyright, thus making it super cheap for tv stations to air endlessly. Plus it's insidious leftist propaganda. George never got to do what he really wanted but that's okay, the town (collective, party, state) was ...

Using the VW idea (covered on IGx), or Phillip Morris, many years ago; I love it when it a large profitable company gets hammered by a Billion dollar settlement. Johnson and Johnson has just moved into that list. $4.8 Billion settlement for selling talcum powder for what, 100 years? Kind of disappo...

If it was with a Hilton Honors American Express card and he paid the balance off immediately, he might have said "Hey everybody, give me your cash and I'll buy the tickets and get a shit-ton of free nights in a Hilton property to boot." If he carried a balance? Serious WTF on the judge's ...

I'm currently engrossed in the saga of Shawn James building a log cabin in the Canadian wilderness totally by hand. This may not be for everyone, but the scenery and craftsmanship of using all hand tools appeals to me. I have some mild similarity with him(very mild) in that ~35 years ago, I designed...

Re: Kavananananaugh: Does he get confirmed?
I would have said a solid "yes" as well until I heard about the 60-200K debt in National's tickets that mysteriously disappeared. I've been thinking the same. How does someone making 220K a year, spend 200K on National's tickets? Seems like a serious lack of judgement. Will be interesting...

Fred Rogers and Arnold Palmer were high school classmates in 1945 Latrobe, Pa. This has absolutely nothing to do with the movie.

Re: Death Knell of the EU?
My old neighbors were Brits and they told me that one of the main reasons they left for the US in the late 70's was the big influx of Muslims into their country, primarily "Paki's". I didn't give it much thought back then. EU has been on borrowed time.

Re: So what do you fuckers think about HBO's "Westworld"?
My son convinced me to give it a try. Just finished the whole 1st season and loved it. I'm a big fan of westerns and sci-fi, plus lots of gratuitous sex and nudity to compliment the story. Ready to start season 2.

That's a bitch. Have to admit, I don't think I'd handle such a thing very well (traumatic). I hope you're ok, Dik. I'm okay, not great during quiet times. I learned a long time ago, that I handle stressful situations pretty well in the moment. Can sort of disassociate myself and focus on the proble...

No, she didn't. Her mom got her quickly into the house and all she saw were police and emerg. vehicles and personnel walking around. I was still pre-occupied and didn't see her until my wife put her into the car to go to school.Turdacious wrote: ↑Sat Jun 02, 2018 4:27 am Damn. Friday, 6/1/18: Was up early to let Gus, our mixed flat coat retriever and Newfoundland out for his morning pee. Had the inside front door open waiting for our granddaughter to arrive before school, while watching the futures market on CNBC, I heard a crack that made Gus kind of yelp or bark, and lo...

For those of you with parents who garden and who have mobility/balance issues, an action hoe is a great gift. Wished I'd seen this a couple weeks ago. I am fascinated to see how they close it out. No idea of course, but a sick ending that would make sense would be, sadly, Stan getting whacked in some final confrontation, the heat on Elizabeth & Phillip cooling off, Soviet Union collapses, and the Jensons (do I have their last name right?) wit...
